Chances are you cooked some of the major fuses in the car.
Take a test light or meter and check the major fuses first, then the smaller ones.
Your owners manual should have the locations and what the fuses protect.

SOURCE: Car is Dead

Hi!
Sorry to hear of the awful incident.
I can't understand how your friend managed to hook up the jumper leads the wrong way without arcing or sparks flying off the leads as connection was made?
Are you sure You didn't try boosting it to 24Volts? to get away?
If so then as the ignition was turned on all the bulbs will have blown and possibly the burning was the Alternator frying.
If Not and only a very brief attempt was made then all may not be lost (Hopefully)
Before this incident are you sure the battery was flat and Not a faulty starter motor? if it was then the connection the wrong way will possibly have only blown the bulbs as I feel the problem lies with your starter.
When trying to crank the engine with a poor/low charge in the battery, Volts go down Amps go up cooking the wires in the starter making it feel/look like a flat battery afterwards even with a fully charged battery installed.
Firstly I would examine all ignition circuitry for cooked wires, then check all bulbs (Replace blown/fused) If the wiring isn't too bad then
I would replace the starter, install a fully charged battery, (Make sure you flash the positive lead before connecting properley to see if direct shorting isn't taking place) then try again.
If you have no luck then come back to me for more suggestions, I'll pop off to my Toyota Buddie and see if I can't scare up a wiring diagram.
Good Luck!
You can do this,

SOURCE: 1998 toyota crolla battery hooked up wrong, car starts but no acc

I believe the reason the lights would still work is due to the fact a light bulb doesn't discriminate about polarity. It would be fair to say you have fried relays in your car. These should be located in something that looks like a fuse box in your engine bay. Some may also be in your fusebox. Hope this helps and good luck.

SOURCE: my mr2 won't start. no accessory lights on.

The positive which is normally red goes to the starter solenoid. The negative or ground (black wire) bolt to the engine and body.

Park the charging vehicle close enough to the vehicle with the battery so the cables reach to both cars. Connect the red positive positive to the positive terminal on both ends. Connect the black negative to the negative terminals on each vehicles. After about a minute, try to crank the car with the dead battery. https://parts.olathetoyota.com/blog/9450/charging-jumpstarting-toyota-battery

LOL what do you need to know? it real simple you have a plug to plug it in to charge it To jump start connect the read lead to the positive side of the Battery First, then connect the black to the negative post. the bigger post is positive and smaller is negative. Just be sure which is right before connecting.

I need to jumpstart and cant find the battery...

The battery should be on the right hand side of the car, in the engine compartment, remember when you jump start it to hook up the jumper cables like this; negative jumper cable to negative battery terminal on your car, then positive jumper cable to positive terminal on your car, then, put the other positive jumper cable to the car that's jumper car and last connect the other negative jumper cable to the jumer cars engine block, and that should help you.

Where are the terminals to jump 2000 intrepid

Hello
Welcome!
The car has positive and negative jump start posts under the hood. The positive one is a large bolt surrounded by bright red plastic This is by the air cleaner. The negative one has black plastic. Use these locations to jumpstart the car instead of batter posts and jumpstart as with a typical car.

Im trying to jumpstart my husbands car i have 2005 dodge magnum but i cnt seem to find the -thing where i put the cable wires

The Magnum's battery is located next to the spare tire in the trunk area, but there is a jumpstart post under the hood also. On the passenger side of the engine compartment in the front, you'll find a red cap with a plus sign on it right next to the fusebox. Lift this cap and you'll find the positive connection for the jumper cable. Behind the fusebox there is a good negative connection point, but usually any uncoated solid metal, like a bolt head, can be used for the negative connection.

My car ticks when i try to start it??? How do i jump start it???

You should have a positive + boost connection right behind your passenger headlight under hood, attached to rad support. Labeled too. Squeeze cap & lift off to expose cable end & bolts, clamp positive there. Your negative should be same side, further back & labeled in yellow too, neg connection, up near where front shock/strut mounted. Clamp negative- to that big nut.
