IGNITION KEY WILL NOT RELEASE

It can be faulty ignition lock cylinder. I suggest to wiggle the steering wheel a bit and see if the key gets released out. If that is not helping then first turn steering wheel to right and try removing the key, or next turn steering wheel to left and see if you can remove the key.

----------

Spray wd-40 in the ignition key hole and let it remain there for few minutes, after that once again try to remove the key and see if that helps.

---------

But if that is not helping then ignition lock cylinder has to be removed out and key has to be manually removed.

SOURCE: 2005 VW Jetta ignition/key problem

I just had this problem as well... thank god I had a handy AAA guy to my rescue, who used a flat head screwdriver in the ignition to get it to turn a bit, which caused the white lock I could see (that holds the key in while driving) to release... and then I could insert the key... Though I notice this is now becoming a reoccuring issue... so I think the ignition needs replacing...

SOURCE: VW Jetta. Radio and clock are not working...

Radios often have a security code which needs to be entered when the radio is first turned on or if it has been disconnected. If you have the radio manual, then there should be a card with a number on it. Enter this via the channel selection buttons to resume normal service

(If your battery was entirely dead, then it may have been to low to maintain the normal operation of the radio; i.e. it "forgot" the code).

If you haven't got this code, then go to your dealer, who will advise

Vw jetta won t start and its stuck in third gear

Check with VW there is a recall on the transmission shift body. The pressure control valve is sticking. Assuming you have a automatic trans. the starting problem can and maybe do to a sticking valve also.

1999 vw jetta turns off after 10 min of driving

It would be worth checking/replacing the ignition module ( see if you have a spark when it WON'T start) . Coil assy are plentiful and the most likely given your description. Very prone to over heating and shutting down. Good luck

Power to headlights fan and wipers intermitantly cuts out

sounds like it is a lower ignition switch problem. The upper ignition switch is where you insert the key, The lower is an electrical switch that causes this issue. This car probably has air bags, if so, not recommended for an unlicenced technician.
