Rough idle, feels like it is missing
SOURCE: consistant rough idling in colder weather
Had sam eproblem. Gerage after gerage did not help at all. Stand infront of your car with bonnet open. On the lef hand side (standing infront of the car) between boddy an engine is a round black container, next to it is a small vacume switch, check the thin rubber pipes is conected, it can have a leak or like mine broke off. after fixing it my problem were solved. Ideling were up and down must be leaking vacume pipe. never bypass. if pipes is ok check and test vacume switch. Kia ideling is controlled by this small vacume switch !!!!! What a great car. Enjoy !!!! Please inform me if it did work. my e mail is [email protected].
SOURCE: engine codes p1159,p0431,and p0122.what are they
CODE P1159 INTAKE MANIFOLD AIR CONTROL ACTUATOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. CODE PO431 - WARM UP CATALYTIC CONVERTER BANK 2 EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD CODE PO122 - THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR OR ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR LOW INPUT.
SOURCE: hard starting, no power, idles
check fuel pressure, check fuel pressure regulator, change fuel filter. If fuel pressure is low it could be a bad pump, a clogged filter, or a malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator. If all those check out, then check crankshaft and camshaft position sensors.
SOURCE: changed the TPS on my 05 sedona and it reads P0122
this code may cause by: TPS not mounted securely. TPS circuit short to ground or another wire. Faulty TPS. Damaged computer (PCM). to fix this code you can try this: Carefully check the throttle position sensor (TPS), wiring connector, and wiring for breaks, etc. Repair or replace as necessary
Check the voltage at the TPS (refer to a service manual for your vehicle for specific information). If the voltage is too low that is indicative of a problem. Replace if necessary.
If recently replaced the TPS may need to be adjusted. On some vehicles the installation instructions call for the TPS to be properly aligned or adjusted, consult a repair manual for specifics.
If there are no symptoms at all, the problem may be intermittent and clearing the code may resolve the issue temporarily. If this is the case then you should definitely check the wiring to be sure it's not rubbing on anything, grounding, etc. The code may come back.

The only thingI can say is that there is a problem that is affecting the entire bank on one side of the engine. This automatcally eliminates things like Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) etc. because failure of these things will affect BOTH banks, not one.
I have seen things like a totally skewed upstream Oxygen sensor on one side cause misfire codes for all cylinders on one bank. It is pretty rare, but it CAN happen. This can usually be verified by graphing the O2 Sensor PIDs for both sensors and comparing the graphs.
If the scaner data should be showing SOMETHING that is not right on one side - i.e. fuel trims, injector pulse width, etc.
I would also be looking into the possibility of one of the cams on that side to be 1 tooth off of the correct timing. This can cause problems while the engine is running and will not necessarily show up on a cranking compression test. One way to verify this is to perform a RUNNING compression test. With a warmed-up engine, pull one spark plug out at a time and check the compression with the engine running. Do BOTH sides, so you can compare the readings. If the entire 1-3-5 bank is lower than the 2-4-6 bank, then valve timing is most likely the cause.
