SOURCE: 2002 Avalanche gas gauge problems

Gm has a real problem with fuel tank sending units. That is what is wrong. You need a fuel tank sending unit. You can only get them aftermarket with the whole fuel pump module, but you can buy them seperate if you buy it from the dealer.

SOURCE: Fuel pump issue, 2004 chevy avalanche

1s the fuel pump should not be that noisy, and the problem u are describing is a defective/worn out fuel pump, it is taking time to built pressure, replace the fuel pump and don't forget to replace the in line fuel filter as well.

Gas Tank Leak when Filling / Check Engine Light due to Vapor Leak" I'm reading these gas tank filling issues on the 04 Avalanche, I've had them too. Now another issue; when you fill the truck and...

It may just be the fuel pump seal at the top of the tank. it has to be dropped for a definite diagnosis. It is rare but the tank seams occasionally crack too. Good luck.

P0442 evap small leak.were to look for it

The code P0442, "Small leak detected" means that the system is not sealed properly and has a small leak. The system prevents gasoline vapors inside the fuel tank from escaping into the atmosphere. Most common cause for this code is when the fuel tank cap is not sealing properly. Check the fuel tank cap, make sure it's tight. If you think that it wasn't closed properly, the check engine light should go off by itself in a few days of driving. If the check engine light won't go off, there could be a number of other reasons, such as leaking ventilation valve, cracked charcoal canister, cracked or pinched hose, leaking seal, etc.
If the leak is very small, it could be very hard to find. Take your car to a dealer or well-equipped garage that can test your system with the special equipment.

The check engine light comes on my 2004 galant es and the codes states that there may be a leak in the fuel line or tank evaporation system. What to do?

Have you checked your fuel cap? A loose or leaking fuel cap will trigger an EVAP code. I would start with a new fuel cap, and have your local autozone, or checker, or automotive store clear the check engine light after you replace the fuel cap. Hope this helps

Fixing a leak between the fuel tank and the fuel filler neck

your best bet is to replace the fuel filler neck. the entire fuel system is a calibrated emissions system, meaning any changes to the specific setup may set a check engine light. you should be able to purchase a new fuel filler tube at your local dealer, not sure if parts stores carry those kind of parts. but you can try them too.
