I need to remove the fuel from the fuel tank of a 2000 chevy express van so that I can drop the fuel tank
Some fuel tanks have a drain **** that will allow you to drain all of
the gas neatly. If you have a drain ****, it will be located at the
lowest point on the tank. Loosen the valve and allow the gas to
completely drain.
If your tank has no drain ****, you'll have to drain it by removing one
of the fuel lines. The rubber hose that exits the tank at its lowest
point will drain the tank fully. It will either be connected to an
electric fuel pump, fuel filter,
or to a hard fuel line that goes to the front of the car. Loosen the
clamp on the end of the line that connects to the gas tank. Pull the
hose off and allow the gas to run out of the tank into your container
until it is drained completely.
The easiest way i know is to go and purchase around 7.00 dollars a hand pump like for boats take a sscrew driver and open the tank valve on the tank for puting nozzle in. put the long end of hose into tank and start pumping. the other way i have had to do is use a jack and lower the tank a little and take off the fuel pump and put a hose into the tank and syphon it out that way then finish lowering tank
