Won't run with the correct firing order

I have a 1990 Mustang 5.0 and I'm having problems with the firing order. in the internet it gives me 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8. but will not run smooth, backfires through exhaust and intake. I used the old ford firing order 1 5 4 2 6 3 7 8 and the vehicle runs better but still misses and has LOW power. can anyone help I am confused.. Have put in new map sensor and engine computer again please please help..car is stop no modifications

Hi the firing order for a 5.0-302 is 15426378 and the fireing order for a 351is 13726548 save to file and zoom in

    this goes with the pic

    the rotation for a 5.0 is clockwise

    the rotation for 351 is counterclockwise

The firing order for that year should be the 13726548 counter clockwise. And the cylinders are right bank (passenger side) 1,2,3,4 and left bank drivers side 5,6,7,8.

    That is if it is an HO motor. And if I remember correctly that was the only one in a fox body mustang.

    But if it is Not an HO motor then it is the 15426378 firing order.

a haynes manual from a parts place will show you--or chec the condition of each plug wire-if one looks bad or falls apart--probly need to get all new wires /plugs

Dont know firing order for 1996 mustang

V-6 firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6.
V-8 firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

Number 1 cylinder is the front cylinder on the passenger side.

2000 Mustang: which is the position for the wires for the sporck...

For the 2000 Ford Mustang:
Based on your question you should have the 3.8L V6 and not the 4.6L SOHC or DOHC V8; however I have included all below.

For the 3.8L V6:
Firing Order:
1-4-2-5-3-6
Cylinders:
......(back)......
|..3..|.......|..6..|
|..2..|.......|..5..|
|..1..|.......|..4..|
......(front)
Ignition Coil Connections:
....(back).....
|..1...2...3..|
|..5...6...4..|-this is correct (564).

For the 4.6L SOHC and DOHC:

I dont know in what order my spark plug wires hooked up.

Chec here the MUSTANG FIRING ORDER

Below are the firing orders for 5.0L, 4.6L, 3.8L, and 2.3L late model Mustangs. Remember to be very careful when checking your firing order because the ignition system on your car runs on very high voltage. Do not remove spark plug wires from the distributor or spark plugs while the engine is running.
Firing order sequences:
V8's 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
V6's 1-4-2-5-3-6
2.3L 1-3-4-2

1997 Ford Mustang 3.8 liter V-6 VIN "4"

Cylinder # passenger side radiator to firewall, 1-2-3
Cylinder # passenger side radiator to firewall, 4-5-6

Coil numbering
Radiator side, passenger to driver side 5-6-4
Fire wall side, passenger to driver side 1-2-3
