Dome light dosen't work the dioed needs replacing

Where is the diod located for the dome light on the kia sorento

My 2006 sorento has the same problem. I am not sure about the diode though. The dome light in the rear works fine, but the one in the center only works on manual. I was thinking it could be the switch in the light itself. Any thoughts to this?

the dome light on 2003 kia sorento works with the buttons but not when the door is opened.

The dome light does not work with the remote or when any of the 5 doors are opened. The cargo compartment light works with all doors and the remote. This problem comes and goes but now no light for over a year. The bulbs seem to work fine using the switch on the dash

The diode for the interior dome light is located behind the driver's side kick panel. You have to remove the kick panel or get access to the wires behind the panel. The diode is located in the wrapped wires just to the left of the fuse box area. When you feel around the wrapped wires with your fingers, you will feel a small hard rectangular plastic piece behind the tape wrapping the wires. Carefully cut the tape at the spot and locate the diode. Remove the diode and replace with a new one (about $13-18 at Kia dealer) and test. Retape with electrical tape and replace kick panel and you are done. About a 15 minute job.

Have same problem on a 2005 UK spec Sorento. No interior light in front although door lights and rear load area light works on on door switches. If there is a diode fault would love to know where it’s located.

How to tell if a fuse in 2003 Kia Sorento is good

None of those would be fixed by replacing the battery. Or did you replace the battery and then all of those stopped working?

You can tell of blade fuses are blown if you full them and hold them up to the light. That is a whole lot of stuff not working. I would say you need a good auto-electrician.

What does a diode look like in a 2003 kia sorento

In an alternator it is a round button pressed into the aluminium heat plate. Other diodes are lights (blubs) or electrical components in the circuitry.

My 2004 KIA Sorento Dome light does not come on when ANY of the doors are opened. I've check the Dimmer as well as the fuses. Both okay. Could the suggested Diode be the problem even though th

It is 99% that's the problem. This cars are well known to have this problem. If you are not electrically familiar, is better you take the car to an electrician. But there isn't too much hope. Since the diode is hard to find. I modified the way the dome light is connected so there is no need for the diode, but it's a very complicated process but is worthy. If you are lucky to find the diode it would be a very quick fix but as I stated before, good luck finding it.

2004 kia sorento the dome light will not come on when the "door button" is pushed in or even with the "on button" pushed in. I took the cover off the overhead light above the driver's area and noticed 2...

The problem is the diode needs to be replaced. The dome light works in the "on" position, but does not work when any of the doors are opened. The diode itself is about half the size of a dime which you can buy from a kia dealer for less then $20. You don't have to disconnect the battery to do this.
1. Remove the kick panel which is right next to the foot rest on the drivers side and where the fuse box is located. You will have to pry open the door foot guard to get to the other screw for the kick panel.
2. right next to the fuses box there is a wiring harness wraped in black cloth like material or some type of harness cover, just peel it back or remove. You can feel the diode through the wrap.
3. the diode is in a sleeve like incasement or cover carefully pry open and slide the diode out.
4. replace diode with new one and your done.
