SOURCE: brake lights on GMC truck do not work replaced fuses & bulbs
ther is a switch called a brake lifgt switch that has a pin that is moved by your boot brake pedal arm.
the way it works is: when you press on the brake the brake pedal moves down and the spring in the switch pushes out closing the contacts to your brake lights the switch is located high up under the driver's side of the underside of the dash near or, on the brake pedal support replace or, adjust this switch
SOURCE: brake lights won't work. tail lights do. I
need to know if your third brake light up high is working or not.if it isn't,you need to check the brake light switch on the brake pedal with a test light, one side hot all the time, the other side should turn hot when brake pedal is pushed.

theres usually a pressure switch behind the brake pedal, sometimes the plastic hex nut rattles loose and you have to retighten it.
SOURCE: No brake lights, or no signal lights
brake lights and turn signals work off the same curcit, it could be the fuse or the brake light switch !!!!!!
