Remove gas cap and relieve fuel system pressure from fuel rail pressure relieve valve. Then you will want a drain pan of course. Before you can remove the fuel line, you will have to buy the cheap plastic quick-connect fuel line removal tool that fits your car. Or buy a universal pack for like $5. Then you press the plastic tool inside the fitting and pull on the other side and it disconnects instantly. then grab the new filter and the lines will just click right back in.

Saturn sl2 problems

Have you checked the fuel injectors? Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Sounds to me like you have a fuel delivery problem.

Try the following: remove the airbox and spray some starter fluid into the throttle body while someone else cranks the motor. If it starts for a second and dies, then you KNOW you have a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't change and still won't start, then the problem is either a bad sensor somewhere (crank position sensor, maybe?) or no compression.

Is my fuel filter needs to be single or dual?

The same basic engine, a 1.9L 4 cylinder, is in all Saturns 91 through 99. The main difference is whether or not it is a double overhead cam or single overhead cam. There is a fuel filter in the gas tank to keep debris out of the fuel pump, and another one in the fuel line just after it comes into the engine bay. It is a single in line filter and you can buy them at most auto parts stores. It may help the salesperson if you know if you have the SOHC SL1 or the DOHC SL2.

Where is the fuel filter on a 1997 Saturn SL2?

It is an inline fuel filter under the car in the frame rail up front neat the motor area. It will look similar to this...

On that saturn it has a hose already attached to the fuel filter. It has what they call quick connects on both sides. just remove one side of air intake. (the one closest to firewall of car) where you can get your arm in there. Reach right under fuel filter and grab two white or green tabs with pointer finger and thumb. and squeeze till they make a snaping noice. then all you have to do is reach under fuel filter and pull hose off. Then push the black clips around fuel filter out and it should slide out. The same on the hose already connected to the fuel filter

I cant find my fuel rail pressure relief valve. where is it loacated on a 1994 saturn sl2

I just did a tune up on a 1995 SL2. The valve is on the fuel filter assembly. Facing the car, on the right side, the fuel filter is attached to the frame. Follow the line out of it, and there should be a cap. Unscrew the cap, and push the schrader valve in. Pressure released.

I have a saturn sl2 1996,,, it is hard to start i

fuel, oxygen, and spark. Check all of these. Is it getting air. Is your filter clean. Are you getting spark. if not check your plugs wires and coil. finaly check your fuel. Are you getting enough fuel. Replace the filter, make sure you are getting enough psi's before the injectors. also make sure the fuel pump is working.

You will probably need to put your car on a computer scanner.

Let me know what you find.
