I ran my codes on my little code scanner, and got: 44 - O2 sensor 61 - A/C problems 51 - PROM Error 63 - O2 or MAP sensor 33 - MAP sensor I've been having problems with several things... this is a 1993 LeSabre with 135,000 miles. 1. Cruise control doesn't work anymore. The light comes on, but the car just slows down and the cruise light goes off. 2. When it's cold (like first thing in the morning or starting to go home from work) if I won't let the engine idle for several minutes and let the RPMs settle back down to ~1K, the car will start off but then sputters and chugs for several minutes, topping out at like 15-20 mph... then all of a sudden I get a surge of power and everything is back to normal. Any Suggestions? I tested the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) with my multimeter, and everything tested ok on it. Do I need to replace my O2 sensors as well as the MAF sensor? What's the PROM?
The first thing you have not checked is fuel pressure.
The pressure could be low, or the fuel filter could be clogged.
It takes more fuel to run the engine in the first 5 minutes until it warms up than under normal conditions.
The codes mean the sensors are not giving the computer the readings they should, but it does not always mean the sensors are faulty.
If the engine is running rough, or the fuel mixture is lean, the sensors will show that.
Code 44 is O2 sensor reading lean which may be true.
Code 33 is MAP sensor reading low vac which may also be true.
Another possible cause is the coolant temp sensor may not be telling the computer the right thing. If it tells the computer the coolant is 200 degrees and the engine is cold, you won't get enough fuel thru the injectors.

Have you checked fuel pressure? How about spark on all 6 cylinders? Maybe a coil?
SOURCE: fixed check engine trouble code but light with same code comes on
Your transmission problem could be related to the TPS sensor. The TPS sensor indicated to the PCM when and what gear the transmission should be in. As for the Lucas and other additives to the transmission may be doing it more harm then good, As the transmission oil is thicker, the transmission line pressure increases. The PCM try's to compensate for that by letting the converter lock up clutch to slip and the fluid retention in the solenoid to change gears stick causing it to shudder between gear shifts. Recap, Check the TPS sensor readings and the Wire Harness. Look for loose connections and corrosion that may not be giving the proper readings to the ECM. Rescan the car for any DTC codes and most transmission chop can do that for you if your going to get it serviced there anyways. Have the transmission fluid flushed and filter changed, and have them do a transmission line pressure checked, there are additives out there to keep the fluid from foaming which is ok, but changing the fluid's weigh can cause transmission failure. Good luck and hope this helps and keep me posted, be glad to help.
