Hi Mike,
I have the infamous "buttons don't work" for the 4wd.
I have pulled the 4wd Fuse for 30 sec, then the 5 x key turn, and voila, it works, but only until the next time I turn off the vehicle and turn back on.
Any thoughts on what would cause the "Reset" to be temporary?
Thanks,
Brian

Having worked at a GM dealership I saw this problem many times. While it is true that the vacuum actuator and switch are very common problems, the problem you are having is due to the encoder motor on the transfer case. This was also a rather common problem on the earlier S series. Unfortunatly the encoder motors are rather expensive and are more than just a 15 min job to install.

Turn on the ignition switch without starting the vehicle and mash the accelerator to the floor 3 times slowly and this should reset the change oil sensor.

replace the relay for the headlights located in the same fuse box under the hood.

There were initial comments regarding this by "mike".
I was hoping he could further answer my issues with his fix.
"Mikehumble" had this same "FIX" for the Chevy Blazer on this forum.
Mike you out there???
4wd HI does not engage.
Upon removing the 4wd fuse for 30+ sec, then running the 5 x Ignition Key Cycle, 4wd HI works, but only until the next time the car is started, at which point I must repeat the TCCM reset sequence detailed above.
2 wheel and 4wd LO work as normal.
this is caused by the engagament motor sensor contacts or the motor itself.
PLEASE RESTATE THE PROBLEM
who is mike??
