My 2004 Chevy Avalanche was barely stuck yesterday. I put it into 4x4 thinking that I would easily get myself out of my snowy situation... The light came on saying that it was in 4x4... but the wheels

I never ended up being able to get out and had to get a buddy to pull me out with a chain... I have driven this through much worse terrain and never had a problem with this happening.

Sounds like something is going on in the transfer case. Not cheap or fun, but that was the issue I had.

What ended up being wrong with it? I have only had my truck for a month and it is still under warenty from the dealership, so must transfer case work is covered. But I just don't know why the light is coming on saying that it is in if it isn't...

mine was electronic. The dealer fixed it up for free.

SOURCE: 1991 S10 blazer 4x4 4.3 popping coming from the front

the popping sound is the stabilizer links or the lower control arm bushings you can replace all bushings and both link kits for around 50.00 and the light is prob from the sensor on the transfer case or the front end i would remove and clean with dawn dishwashing liquid and put them back.

i have a 2002 aavalanche and it wont shift to 3rd and 4th. some guy said that i had to rebuilt it but i think it could be somethisn else. what do you think?

the motor on ur transfer case is locked up .... if u don't use 4x4 once in a wile it will happen to all GM trucks

check all harness connections for water
check for water at the ecm connections if under bonnet
check for water wet air filter

My key wont turn in my tailgate on my 05 Chevy Avalanche . Is there a way i can fix this problem myself?

if you are fairly handy with this kinda stuff, you can but you might want to get it done. the key-hole on those tend to sieze, all i did was take it apart and put some WD40 on it then lubed it up. best way to get to it is taking the plactic backing on the inside of the tailgate off.

How do you remove the rear rotors on a chevy avalanche 4x4 the rotor is stuck and won't come off.Is there a trick to it? I've tried hammer and prying it.

Well with the rotors on the rear you still have a drum with brake shoes in the middle for your E-Brake.Think you have to back off the parking brake nut at the equalizer(one cable into two) to get slack in the cable to back off the shoes inside.Well hope this helped and good luck.

My 2003 Chevy Avalanche is having trouble shifting from 2 wheel to 4 wheel or to Auto Drive. Every time I start the truck it is in the 4 x4 mode regardless of where it was left when last turned off. I live...

Just a question. Does the truck do this after the truck is warmed up. If not this is a temp. issue and can be a few items. Generally this is an electric switch issue. Remove the fuse from the system when you shut it off for the night and see if it still jumps to 4x4 mode.

verify all connections. A defective battery can affect the ability to jump start. It can also take out the assist battery or assisting vehicle alternater.

Generator light comes on.

i've got a '79 scottsdale 4x4 myself actually.. the best thing you can do is go buy a cheap voltage meter.. remember the wiring/connections are 30 years old.. so bad wires/connections/gauges/sensors could be all over the place..

for example, my voltage gauge would barely move out of the orange when i got it, i rewired the vitals and it still only reads 13v max, however, when i hook up a voltage meter to the hot alt wire, it reads over 14v..

remember.. old wires=resistance/heat=voltage loss.. this could easily account for a sensor triggering even with a fresh battery and alt

04 Chevy Avalanche Driver's heater blowing cold all the time

your mode actuator is stuck. try unhooking battery for a few minutes when you hook back up actuators will do a relearn.if this does not work will need to have replaced
