Common issue for these models. Unfortunately this is usually just the beginning. You will just keep throwing money at this unless you move away from the air suspension altogether. Companies now make kits that allow you to convert from an air suspension to coils. It's an easy job and will last you through the end of the vehicle's life without issue. Check this kit out: https://www.strutmasters.com/products/2002-2004-oldsmobile-bravada-4-wheel-air-suspension-conversion-kit-with-shocks-gb14f-2

SOURCE: rear air bag shock inflate to much

Mine were not inflating enough, if yours are inflating too much at least you know the compressor is working. Possibly only needs minor adjustment like mine. My mechanic only charged me $30 bucks to adjust system.(local mechanic, not a dealership)
Good luck

SOURCE: I replaced the air shocks

before you throw even more money away on that ridiculous system take a look at a shock and spring replacement for it at www.strutmasters.com.

there is no fix for them, one part after another fails.

SOURCE: My 2003 oldsmobile bravada back

The shocks do not set ride Hightower. The leaf springs set ride hieght in the rear. So ether the leaf springs are worn out or the shackles that hold the springs to the frame are broken (should be very obvious if they are). Most likely the rear leaf springs are the problem.

How do I get a fully inflated air shock to deflate?

The air struts have a safety valve in them you would have had to crack the line and let the air slowly leak out

Rear air shocks do not work

there can only be a couple things either the lines going to the shocks have a hole in them and air is leaking out before it can charge the shock or the shocks seals are bad and leaking out there also check the tip where you inflate maybe take the air valve out and see if thats stopping air from reaching the shock!

Air bags suspension won't inflat. Checked all fuses & air suspension switch. What can the problem be?

Probably failed seal or air bag leaking air. Check again and try to see if this will do the trick. Sometimes pvc line could fail to deliver air to the bag too!

I replaced the air shocks on my Olds Silhouette with no problem and thought the problem I had (van sitting very high in back) was solved. Rode great first week or so afterwards. Now it is back to shocks...

Check the bleed port on the controller, it may be plugged with dirt. or the controller may have failed. A full funtion scanner would help find the problem.
An other option is to by-pass the auto- leveling system and install a manual scrader valve in the air line, this would allow you to add and remove air with any source. They are availble at most autopart stores.

Back end sits very low

I bought an '02 Bravada a couple months ago. I was told that this is normal. Since it's an air ride suspension the air escapes when the vehicle is not in use like overnight. Then after starting up the air compressor will turn on and inflate the air ride suspension.

I HAVE A 2002 BRAVADA AND MY COMPRESSOR MAKES A LOUD NOISE FINIALLY BLEW THE FUSE. I REPLACED THE FUSE AND SAME NOISE COMES ON AND CAR IS NOT LIFTING, GMC DLR TOLD ME NO I CANT REPLACE IT WITH SHOCKS OR...

A strut is a device that integrates shock and spring into one unit - there is no separate spring. Like certain shocks, some struts are load leveling which incorporates bladders into the shock part that are inflated by an air compressor.
You must use a strut to replace a strut; however, there are usually available regular struts that can be used to replace load leveling struts if that's what you want. To determine if there is a strut like that available for your vehicle, try visiting the Monroe website.

Shocks won't inflate

The mechanic should check on the shocks spring if worn out or destroyed .Then replace , if the shocks is air type then check the rubber that holds the air or check for some air leaks to be sure then repair. but if the shocks is worn out or destroyed it should be replace .Ones a certain shocks inflate the problem can be the shocks spring may be its destroyed or stuck then you have to replace it or repair it. To be used again.
