pull the IAC out and make sure that there is nothing blocking it from the throttle body from cleaning it. while you have it out go ahead and clean the IAC. the only way that I know to check it is pull it out and leave it plugged up to the connector turn the car on but dont start and see if the probe moves in or out.

Check for vaccume leaks and also you PCV valve. check the hose too. Visually inspect every vaccume hose you can find. Sounds like a leak .

SOURCE: 2002 nissan altima p0507 idle problem

I had the same problem before. after using the scanner i got a code number P0507. "Idle Air Control", New 2002 and up Nissan models like my Altima don't have an idle valve or sensor like older models to be replace. Here's the solution " Replace your "Throttle Chamber" the idle sensor is build in it, there is no other way to fix this problem. the throttle chamber is about $175.00 at your Nissan Dealer. The need your core or you will need to pay extra money. No need for expensive mechanic shop, you could do this your self. the throttle chamber is so easy to remove, four screws holds it together. I will take you about ten to twenty minutes to replace it. Please trust me and you will save big bucks!!!!!

My 02 altima idles high then low repeatdely but only when in park it goes between 1000

Vacuum leak can cause this. Sometimes one of those rubber hoses, that range from three quarter inch and down in diameter, located under the hood can come off, break,or get loose at a connection. You sure want to rule this out first.

My 2005 altima idles high and engine code

This P0507 code is one that's sometimes triggered on vehicles that have electronic throttle control. That is, they don't have a regular throttle cable from the accelerator pedal to the engine. They rely on sensors and electronics to control the throttle. In this case, the P0507 DTC (diagnostic trouble code) is triggered when the PCM (powertrain control module) detects an engine idle speed that is greater than the desired (pre-programmed) RPM. In the case of GM vehicles (and possibly others) if the idle speed is over 200 rpm higher than expected, this code will be set.

2004 altima 3.5L codes P0037 P0507 One is a heat O2 sensor how can you know which one exactly

P0037 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0507 Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected
bank 1 is the side with number 1 spark plug but the o2 sensor is going to be the one just before the catalytic convertor. the other codes has to with idle and you either have a vacuum leak (which would cause eratic idle(up/down))or you have no accelerator cable and there is a problem with one of the sensors either at the throttle body or on the pedal assembly.
