You would think the transmission is slipping , a transmission guy hooked up his aniiser to it , but said an indicaton of air flow , filter clean , van makes like it wants to stall when accelerating sometimes , had fuel pump failure / replaced month ago ,

Hi, I had the same problem with my 2003 Impala and it was a clogged catalytic converter and fuel filter. I had both of those replaced and my car runs like new again. I'm 99% sure this is your issue. My car had the exact problems you're experiencing. It was horrible trying to get on the highway from an on ramp that went up a hill :o)
I also work with someone who has a 2002 impala and the same thing happened to hers as well.
I got mine fixed at a local repair shop for around 300.00. If you take it to a dealer, it would be a lot more.
Good luck :o)

I'd have a fuel pressure test done to be sure, it isn't fuel related again. Takes 5 or 10 minutes so cost should be minimal. The other thing that comes to mind is a plugged exhaust. (catalytic converter) Quite possible on a 10yr.old vehicle.

You should have your cat. checked make sure there is no restrictions in your exhaust system.

i had a problem similar to this. what i did was i took it to the dealership where i bought it at and it was the EGR valuve that needed to be replaced. i ended up paying about $500 for the whole thing because i had it installed at the dealership. you can order the EGR valuve and install it on your own. it takes about ten minutes to install it.

sounds to me like a bad fuel pressure regulator. I would replace that and see what happens, if that fails you may have contaminated fuel
