Can't get the truck to go over 3000 rpm in P R N D 2 1 4wd or 2wd. changed plugs, air filter, no intake leak,ck fuel press(good) did have auto tranny replaced just before problem it sat for about three weeks in 20-30 degree weather. ran great for about a week then all the error codes so I put 2 cans of dry gas. did have p0308 about a month ago.
Catalytic converters on the Dakota's were a recall issue from 1999-2003 models.
I had a 99 and a 2001 and had the same problem on both.(3 times on the 99 and once on the 01)
You should also check the speed sensor on the rear axle.
The neutral safety switch and the EGR valve.
If I were you,I would start with the Cat and EGR,then check the other stuff if you still have issues.
Please rate this a fixya

No u thinking bad cat converter? I'm leaning that way but there's no catalyst errors in comp.
how? I do also have an exhaust manifold leak. I'm a former aircraft mechanic no all that smart about trucks
check the back pressure anyway.
Have u checked for excessive exhaust system backpressure?
