Oilman

A manual transmission should take 80/90 Hypoid gear oil . An automatic will use Mitsubishi diamond SP-II or SP- III ATF or equivalent (like Mercon V Synthetic). Do not over fill your transmission. Always check the level of your automatic transmission with the motor running.

Engine oil for cold climates 5w-30. Warmer climates 10w-30. Any Auto-zone parts store person at the counter would be more than helpful choosing the correct fluids for your vehicle.

Is it an automatic transmission or manual. Most new vehicles require low weight oils like 5w20 or less like Automatic Transmission oil, If you added gear oil you might have already damaged the transmission, IF you are able to drain all the fuild out, and replace the Transmission Filter and Gasket you might be able to salvage it.

Not knowning the reason for you adding this oil to the transmission i can not offer any more help.

Transmission 2.1qts

Front diff 1.2qts takes 75w-90 Hypoid gear oil
Rear diff 3.9 qts of 75w-90 synthetic oil

Transfer case 1.3 qts of a Hypoid gear oil API GL-4 or GL-5

\'93 Hyundai Lantra, automatic transmission has trouble changing up from 1st to 2nd, it tends to rev on a bit, clunks once or twice before changing to 2nd, other gears seem to be ok. Oil levels are ok and have recently replaced the transmission oil (yes the correct oil was used)

DONT USE GEAR OIL IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. it will blow your seals out. the gear oil is too heavy and will block passages in the tranny

try checking your transmission oil (i had the same problem but after $30 it was fixed) it might had drained out. if your transmission oil is fine then consult a mechanic preferebly an automatic transmission specialist. may be your transmission needs a rebuild.
