I got some keys cut of the original. But the car does not stay running if you use these keys. It'll start and run for about 2 second and shut down. The original key must be used because of the Sentry Key theft deterrant system. Could be a cut key or an issue with this system. Could also be many other things but that's a simple place to start.

92 accord starts and then shuts off

If the battery was dead/charged/replaced the vehicle may have to go through an idle relearn procedure. Get it running and try to keep it running by feathering gas pedal until it reaches operating temp. Ideally you want to be able to take it for a drive for the Honda PGM system to relearn

Car shut off while driving

There could be several things causing this to happen.

The car could be overheating. Make sure you have plenty of coolant and you fan is working properly. This would explain why it won't start for about a minute after it shuts off.

Another possibly reason could be lack of fuel. You probably want to check your fuel filter and make sure its not clogged up. You fuel pump could be going out as well. Usually if its a fuel filter problem, the car will start right back up after it shuts off, though.

Hope this give you a little bit of direction.

What's your problem?Hi I have a 90 convertible mustang 5.0. My problem is the fuel pump wont shut off when you turn key on. It runs and runs and car wont start. Ive checked all injectors, changed

Dear Charlie,
May I suggest you take the car to a good (old?) mechanic and have it "changed?".
Right now the fuel pump is hooked to the battery directly, which is why the pump will not turn off.
Please have him hook the pump up so it only runs when the ignition is on.
God bless your efforts.

MY 2001 FIREBIRD TURNS OFF WHEN I FIRST START IT BUT THENS TURNS RIGHT BACK OFF. SOMETIMES IT DOESNT TURN OFF BUT WILL SPUTTER LIKE IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF.

This sounds like a timing problem as we call it 'pre-ignition' have the timing checked as this will be advanced and not on the right settings, the cam belt could have skipped a tooth, check all the timing marks line up perfectly, has the belts ever been changed ?. Hope this is of some help.

The car won't start, we had the starter replaced but it still won't start. All the fuses in the fuse box are still good too. what else might I do?

You'll want to check fuel pump; its easy to do. Lay under right side of car right behind rear wheel and have someone turn key to on until lights on dash that light just before starting light you should hear pump run for a few seconds then shut off.IF not replace pump this is fairly easy lower tank unhook wires and hoses unscrew plastic ring and left pump out

Car won't Statr or shuts off for no reason

check the ignition fuses makes sure they are not loose also check the ignition coil wires make sure they are intact. if your engine is the 3.0 check distributor make sure it isnt loose to throw off your timing.

Car will not kick over

your car does have a fuel pump shut off switch. You can check your owner's manual. I found a copy of it online and they say it's on the right side of your trunk behind one of the service panels. the following info is right from the Ford manual.

Use the following procedure to reset the fuel pump shut-off switch.
1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Check the fuel system for leaks.
3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the fuel pump shut-off switch by
pushing down on the reset button.
4. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Pause for a few seconds and
return the key to the OFF position.
5. Make a further check for leaks in the fuel system.

Lastly, start you car up as normal. If it still doesn't start, don't put stress on your starter, turn the key on and off slowly a few times, then try starting it again. If this doesn't work, something else may be going on.
