The amp relay is in the Relay/Fuse box located under the hood. The amp relay is the one labeled NBS which stands for Name Brand Speakers.
If you are trying to install an after market radio in a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country, you may notice that no sound comes from the speakers. This is because the single wire that is connected to the factory radio sends a signal to the Bus which tells the relay to turn on - powering the factory amp.
I bypass this by running a wire from the red Acc power wire on the radio to the relay. Connect the wire to pin number 87 on the relay. When standing in front of and facing the van, pin number 87 is the pin, on the NBS relay, which is closest to you and furtherst right.
Are you looking to replace the amplifier? or bypass the speaker wires??
Usually factory amplifiers in vans are under the P/S Front seat. However they can be up under the dash as well (P/S).
If you're looking for it because it is not turning on - check the relay (as above).

Please return and re-rate the answer I gave you. FixYa rates experts based on the askers rating. For this question - "Where is factory amp located" you were given an appropriate location(s) to find it.
A "THANKS FOR TRYING" rating is equivalent to saying I gave you the incorrect information.... when, in fact, you were given the exact information requested.
Ratings like this deter experts from providing free help, and some dont even bother answering free questions any more... only premiums. I took a chance in providing you with the information, because I knew where to exactly find it.
Please return the favor by re-rating to "FixYa" - so my rating is not negatively affected.

I installed a dual head unit witch is a XDVD176BT in my 2001 Chrysler town and country and had no sound. Prior to installation I removed the + and - terminals and installed this unit into my van using the after market wire harness purchased with dash install kit. Wired correctly and grounded the parking brake safety wire to vehicles chassis for continuous DVD play and put everything together and tried it but had no sound, so I followed the information provided in this sites intel. I ran a jump white from the NBS relay "87" pin to my new stereo/DVD player to my 12+ Acc wire only to discover that it still has no sound. I even exchanged my Unit for another thinking that it may have been defective and retried process only to discover that I still have no soundAudio. Any suggestions?
That is the same for 2005 Town Country Touring ?

Shouldn't set off air bag if you are taking off door panel. You could always disconnect negative battery cable to be extra careful. I have replaced both passenger and drivers windows with battery connected. Take your time in removing door panel so avoid breaking plastic retaining clips.
One nasty part of this job is removing bolts that hold window motor to the door. They have a rubberized nut on the backside. Sometimes you can hold them with vise grips. I've found if I just pull the motor really hard the bolt and nut slides out of rubber guide.
It is also a little tricky to remove the unit and reinstall it in the door. Just be patient and take your time.
One tip is to leave the door panel off after you install the new door motor/regulator unit. Simply plug in the window switch and make sure all is functioning correctly and then install door panel.
I buy the replacement window units online and save big bucks over the dealer.

I do not have a diagram but, bank 1 is the bank where #1 cylinder is at. other side would be bank #2. so bank #1 o2 sensor is just before convertor.

i connected everything as noted, put a wire to 87 to red acc wire and still no sound. everything else seems to be working. please help!!
I also connected a wire from red acc to 87 pin and still no sound... How did this work for you?!?
Ok, I got some sound from connecting a wire from the blue and white wire to the amp relay under the hood. Now there seams to be a power problem. The speakers cut in and out if the volume is too high. Do I need to run an additional wire to a 12v power source???
