My heated seats will not stay on in my 2004 GMC Yukon Denali. The lights will come on and you start to feel heat and then they go off.

  • Anonymous Feb 15, 2009

i have the exact problem, the seat will heat up as long as i continue to press the button, but it inevidiably shuts off, any help would be appreciated

I also am having the same or similar problem the passenger side heated seat works and when it is on if I press the drivers side heated seat button the passenger seat turns off and the drivers seat never comes on. But if the passenger seat is off and I press the drivers side button it only comes on for a brief moment then goes off.

My 2003 Denali heated seats go off after only a few seconds. Still searching for an answer before calling the Dealer. Not a fuse issue as they come on each time I hit the button on either side.

heated seat will come on for about 5 seconds or so and then turn off.

  • psdi Mar 25, 2009

When I hit the button on the drivers side they will come on for maybe 30 second and then go off. If I continue to press the button the seat will heat somewhat. I changed the battery and they worked well for about a week, then the problem came back.

I have the same problem with my 2006 Yukon XL

  • Anonymous Apr 26, 2009

I own a 2003 Yukon Xl, my dealer in Anchorage informed me I needed new heating elements in both front seats. Before I took it in I had the exact same problem as you describe; passager seat heats and shuts off after I push the button on the drivers side. The drivers side starts to heat then shuts off. After I got my rig back from the dealer neither seat would work. I looked under the seat and both harnesses were unplugged. I plugged them back in and my passanger seat heats until I turn on the drivers. I don't think its the seat elements. Did you find and resolution for your problem?

Same here. They stay on until the driver moves on the seat and then the driver and passenger heaters go off. Sounds like a short to me but I am NO mechanic.

See GM TSB 05-08-143-001, If you have Adjustable pedals, especially if they don't work with the memeory buttons, but function with thier own buttons. Its the Brake Pedal Position Sensor is shorted and mesing up the seat module which controls the heaters too. My 05 Suburban had the same issue

There is a widespread problem with electrical shorts with the seat warmers. I bought the extended warranty through CarMax and theyy fixed it. Retail repair cost on that would have been $900+. It may be covered by GMC via a recall, but only if you raise enough hell.

I have an 04 yukon just started experiencing the same problem..........its got to be something else than the elements because both my seats started acting up at the same time

  • rbishop1713 Apr 10, 2011

I also have an 04 Yukon and am starting to have the same problem, the heater shuts off for both the front seats after about 20-30 seconds, I would assume some sort of sensor that is being tripped.

03 Denali-all four seats (front and middle) won't stay on and it happened all at once. I can continue to push the button but they all shut off after 20-30 seconds....

2006 Yukon Denali XL the radio stays on as well as the battery symbol on the dash and the dash lights and the heated seats buttons also light up with the car off and locked keys out of ignition

Yes that's normal. it should go off as soon as you open the door though. if it doesn't then they will go off when timer expires (normally about 90 seconds) after you leave the car.

02 GMC Denali front heated seats won't work

The controller could be bad but I would probe the related wiring first. From your symptoms it sounds like something can not handle the electrical load. You turn the F/R seat heater on but then you turn on the F/L and the whole system fails. It does sound like the source of the problem will be under the drivers seat. Testing needs to be performed to confirm and identify the source. Both seats share the same fuse and ground. This circuit may have a damaged wire or connector somewhere. Inspect and test as much as you can. Also look underneath the seats for anything. Customers are not aware that personal belongings and trash get pushed underneath the seats and will damage wiring. Also excessively moving the seat forward and back will weaken the harness over time. Please write back and let me know what you need. If it is more diagnostic information or suggestions just let me know. Good Luck

02 GMC Denali front heated seats won't work

test to see if you have any power going through all the connectors for the seat heater, there may be a spot where there is a connector that has gone bad, or potentially it could be the whole element that is bad
