My 2002 Ford F-150 Lariat Automatic 4 X 4 with 5.4 litre engine seems to be in 4x4 mode but, it can't make it up the dirt road in the mountains that it regularly climbs to get me home. What could be wrong?

not knowing what it is you drive and the engine, most motors hold 4 to 5 litres of oil with a new oil filter. not knowing what your car is and the year the grade of oil can be 5w30 or 10w30, check with what the manufacture requires. you have the same problem with the transmission question. most hold 5 to 7 litres of trans oil, depending on the transmission, and the oil depends on what make of car you drive as GM vehicles use a different type than say a Ford of Chrysler and even different again with the imports.
