No problem, just question on oil change,

I have a 06 Buick Lucerne and the manuel says change oil once a year if it needs it or not, I have always changed oil every 3,000 and have done so with this car, is it OK just to add oil and not change it until the system says change oil.

No, it is better to change the oil every 3 month's or 3,000 miles, which ever comes first. Over a period of time the oil breaks down and becomes thick and sludgy, and won't circulate to the valve train the way it should, then you end up with serious engine problems.Trust me, Ive worked on cars for 40 years.

I would recommend that you change your oil every 3,000 mile or 3 months which ever come first. This just help you keep a cleaner engine and keeps oil at Peak performance and provide excellent protection against sludge which developes with lack of oil change. Once a year seems too long for an oil change. However between oil changes you can add oil if needed. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

Can you put a Chevy Impala transmission in a 2007 Buick Lucerne cxl 3.8

It is unlikely that a Chevy Impala transmission can be directly installed in a 2007 Buick Lucerne CX 3.8, as they are two different vehicles with different transmissions. The Buick Lucerne uses the 4T65E transmission, while the Chevy Impala may have different transmission options depending on the year and model. Even if the transmissions have similar designs, there may be differences in the mounting points, electronics, and other components that would prevent a direct swap. It is always recommended to use the same transmission model that came with the vehicle, or to consult with a professional mechanic or transmission specialist for proper guidance.

Where is the thermostat in the 2007 Buick?

It should be on top of engine where the top rad hose enters the engine. The hose goes into the thermostat Mine is held on with two bolts and is very easy to change . Do not over tighten the bolts or they could break off. I did that once and make sure the new thermostat is installed right side up. If your hoses have not been changed for a few years they should be changed when you have it apart. Save head aches later.

Hello-
According to Dayco, this is it. Give a quick holler if this doesn't make sense, sometimes they get it wrong. Engine code is always nice to make sure.

Alternator

A good mechanic with all the special tools can do it in an hour. Releasing and reinstalling the serpentine belt is what the special tool is needed for. the rest is simple socket wrenches to get the mounting bolts out.
