When you turn the heat or AC on the fan blows but you do not get heat or AC to come on.
Your airconditioning system may be out of cooling gas, and if it has sufficient gas, the compressor might not pick when you put on the AC, and if the compressor did not pick ie start, you cant experience cooling effect, the fan will only be blowing.
Niether the heat or AC works, is there something in between the thermostat and the heating cooling unit that could be out?
The thermostat controls the intermittent operation of the cooling system from running endlessly without rest to the system. So the thermostat may not be defective. The issue is most likely the electrical connections of the cooling system. Try get the electrical connection checked by your a/c mechanic or an experienced auto mechanic.

SOURCE: Heat/AC blower not blowing air
heck the blower fan speed control resistor, it is located near the blower motor, they are cheap to replace and the most common cause of this issue
SOURCE: heat /ac fan doesn't work properly
Check the relay for the blower. it may be locked . tap it lightly or jiggle the relay or check with a known good relay.this two circuits may be interconnected. check the light relays as well and fuses.
SOURCE: 2000 Cadillac Deville - AC and Heat works but no blow!
your fan is shot you need to rplace it
SOURCE: My 2005 Chevrolet Equinox ac isnt working the fan
have relays under hood checked, fuses too. Shouldn't take too much to find where the power is cut.
SOURCE: MY HVAC fan stopped blowing. Checked all the
Check the blower motor speed control resistor pack is ok.
(The resistor pack is usually located in the blower fan ducting in the air flow).
Check condition of electrical connection terminals on the blower motor circuit - these terminals pass considerable current and over time may fatigue overheat and loosen.
Check operation/replace any blower motor control relay,
Check the blower motor will run if +12v directly applied to the blower motor.
Check operation of the blower motor speed control switch is ok.
