Daytime running lights not working

Hi-A few weeks ago the daytime running lights on my Pontiac Grand Prix Gt 2000 stopped working. I was told by my mechanic that there could be a problem with the DRL module. I checked with a friend at GM,and he told me that it was very rare for there to be a problem with the module. He told me, that right beside the module, under the dash, there was a diode, and he said that the doide would burn out first, because it was there to protect the module. Is this true, because I would like to know which one I shoud change, because the module is $400.00, and the diode is $50.00.Is this true what I am told? Thanks Russell.

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT; Elec problem with fan

Replace the blower resistor that is mounted next to the blower motor on the passenger side of the vehicle.
This will restore correct blower operation and I suspect it is also back-feeding voltage resulting in your electrical issues.
Two screws hold the blower resistor into the heater case and it is very easy to replace.
Good luck

A/c blowing hot air. 3 out of 5 vents are blowing.

With regards to you a/c not blowing cold there are several faults that could cause this. Your compressor may not be working, they may be a restriction in your A/C lines, your compressor and/or evaporator may be clogged, you may have a leak, or i could be something as simple as fuse.

2000 grand prix day time running lights/blower not working correctly

Believe it or not, but it was a bad ignition switch. I the switch apart and found about 3 different and one in particular that were burned pretty bad. Must have been the circuit that controls the blower and DRL? Found the solution on another blog. I put a new switch on in about 1.5 hours. I does take a couple special tools, very small female torx sockets. Other than that pretty easy.

Daytime Running lights wont come on on my 2000 Grand Am SE.

Do your high beam headlights work? If you have a burnt high beam light the daytime running lights won't work and then the service vehicle soon light comes on.
