As your going 60 keep your foot on the throttle to keep a steady speed, now just touch the brake pedal do not hit them like your trying to stop. If it stops shuddering then your torque converter is bad. If it is stick shift it is going to be bad cv joints a bent rim or the bushing at the halfway point of your driveshaft.
Check your c.v axles they will cause this
First, don't go 60 mph. next, are your lug nuts tight, wheels may need balanced. check front end tie-rods, idler arm, etc., this is unsafe, have your local mechanic check it out for you, make sure your lug nuts are on tight first.

Mechanic diagnosed problem. Power steering fluid had been put in the brake fluid in error. DO NOT EVER DO THIS!!!!!!!! It was about $1000 to fix it. Had to replace all rubber brake lines, caliphers, master cylinder and a bunch of other stuff after flushing the system. The power steering fluid reacted with the brake fluid and caused the rubber hoses to swell and deteriorate. Major mess plus the brakes tried to lock down as I drove. Lesson Learned! Get the owner's manual out so you know you are checking the right thing. I was low on brake fluid and should have added brake fluid. :(
oh my god! I wouldn't wish this on anyone, good thing you went to your mechanic, but how did he know ? you where the one who did this , yes ! contaminated brake fluid never changed woudl do this same thing, you better let qualified mechanics change all your other fluids and filters, this is not your cup of tea, good luck
