Similar problem due to wiring on ASD (automatic shutdown relay) not connected tight to terminals on underside (fuse box under hood). I encountered this problem repeatedly after a mechanic (national chain) kept removing this wire for some reason (eventually causing computer to fry). Also related problem misfiring/backfiring/bogging down under certain driving conditions I traced to the battery sliding into computer wiring harness and disrupting sensor input/output signals. Placed 1" spacer on rear clamp to push battery forward, which cured this problem.

Check fuel pump for pressure and output. If it's not that, don't start guessing... have a scanner put on it and get some codes. While some codes can be ambiguous, it will serve to start you in the right direction!

any leaks in intake or exhaust upstream of the sensors, sparkplug condition and engine controls/sensors for out of range operation (including fuel pressure and condition of regulator)
IAC should be cleaned and checked as this can cause poor idle and shut down. I'm not saying not to change O2 sensors, but unless everything else if OK, it probably won't help.

It sounds like your new crank sensor is defective. It should be under warranty.

SOURCE: jeep shuts off while driving

turning over is cranking (different words for same thing) You need to do some testing to determine what is failing. Good guess would be the crank sensor however without testing, you may not solve the problem by just replacing it. I suggest you obtain a decent manual such as chilton or haynes and using a digital multi-meter, perform the tests on your sensors outlined. Since the problem is intermittent you need to test both when working and also when in "no start". Testing helps avoid changing non-failed and expensive components, and is always the best thing to do before buying parts.
No one here can tell you what's wrong simply because no one can do that essential part of diagnostics by "long distance"
Good luck!! (if you need help with anything you discover, feel free to ask!!)

I have a 97 jeep wrangler 2.5 with auto trans. The last year I have replaced the up stream 02 sensor 7 times. The jeep will run fine for a month or so then the check engine light will come on. Its always...

My used 97 jeep wrangler fuel / economy problems: My vacuum canister was completely full with crud (replace). also my coolant temp sensor was bad (twice replaced), effects fuel mixture. and O2 sensors were bad (effect fuel mixture) due to being fouled by spraying too much oil on spector air filter (now wipe off excess and let dry in sun), also carb cleaner appeared to foul O2 sensors (stopped using). Also sensor input/output signals were constantly being interrupted by battery sliding into computer harness, which I cured by placing a 1" spacer on rear battery clamp to push battery away from computer. After curing these problems my fuel economy went from 55-60 miles per 1/4 tank to 75-80+ miles per 1/4 tank.

1995 jeep wrangler just stops running without warning.

A bad crank sensor will shut the jeep off suddenly, while driving down the road, then restart later and it repeats over and over until you replace it.

97 jeep wrangler getting spark not fuel. I

Sounds good ninemil, I would also check for any bent or disconnected fuel lines that would restrict the fuel flow as well. I do not know if this has a fuel pump assembly but you should be able to hear it actuate on when the key is in the "on" position. How did it act before you shut it off? Was it harder to start? Make sure you buy a high quality pump (Carter) many of those cheaper brands will fail trust me.

Startin and runnin problems

Most common failure is crank sensor. Before running out and buying one, I strongly recommend that you do some further testing. Any decent manual has instructions for testing systems. Also: test both running and after it dies. (while running everything may check out as good) If you have spark when not running, check fuel filter as well!
