My 1994 Altima has a timing chain on it and these are supposed to last the life of the engine. I would say unless you can really hear the problem then to leave it alone.

Most timing belts go much longer. i am asuming the dealer recommends it or you probably wouldn't ask.it is not an easy or cheap job. i am a big fan of if it ain't broke don't fix it. my truck has almost 200k with the original on...some motors are damaged when the timing belt breaks..ask your dealer why it is recommended and go from there..Good luck

2002 nissan xterra timing belt would that effect the internal engine damage?

Timing belts should be changed every 60,000. Different car makes state different mileage but as a whole 60,000 miles and you should replace the timing belt.

The belt keeps the crankshaft and camshaft in time with one another. And is very important. If you dont change them when they need changing. It can cause extreme engine damage so yes it can effect the internal engine damage.

When do you have to change a timing belt

The timing belt should be changed every 60,000 miles cuz when they break they can do alot of damage to the engine. The 2001 Pathfinder might have a chain but it should still be checked at 60,000 miles.

Hi:
Boy, you have a low mileage car!

I would think that you would not need much done, if the timing belt was just changed, but perhaps your transmission servicing should still be done, as that would not have been done with the belt change. Of course, your normal oil changes need to be done too.

What is the recommended schedule for replacing the timing belt

Find out if you have a rubber belt or a chain belt. Rubber every 50.000 miles, chain 100.000 miles.

1984 Nissan 300zx

the timing belt should be changed every 60,000 miles.
your engine is an interference engine, which means if the timing belt breaks or skips, the valves will hit the pistons.
if your belt broke you will have bent valves. so the heads will need to come off and bent valves replaced.
