If they have not changed the design, the retaining spring is part of the "extinguishing bar" (where you put cigarettes out) the clip tends to lock in the down position and needs to simply be pushed back up to engage the retainer in the dashboard opening

Bertha: most ashtrays are made to pull most of the way out, then take a flat blade screwdriver and push down on a flexible piece in the middle. If you can't figure it out and it is important, go to a wrecking yard and tear one out. It won't matter if you screw it up!

remove the ash tray to expose that wire or wires, depending on how many outlets you have.but for sure make sure your fuse is good !st try wiggling that fuse or even replacing it before you dismantle your ashtray.hope this helps!!

they usually have an inner and outer sleeve that bolts togethor inthe ashtray from above and under the ashtray and there shoud be a wire with a rubber single plug on it tht inserts into the bottom centre of the lighter socket

Remote won't unlock door lock
Not to bad. Just need to remove all bolts including the ones behind the control panels, and behind ashtray and the ones in glove box. More time consuming then anything. It may also be the battery in the remote itself. Or the remote needs replacement
