Re: Codes 448 & 452 I pulled the evap canister off. I shook the canister and heard nothing. I blew air through it, shook it, and now I hear the carbon shaking around. It still codes out with 446 & 452. I pulled the evap solenoid off and put power to it. I could hear it thump/move. One way I could blow through it, the other I could not. I re-installed the solenoid and a friend with a scanner went through the steps described and the solenoid would not close/open. I checked the 15 amp fuse for the solenoid and found it to be good. Any suggestions on what to do next?
P0446 has nothing to do with the canistor !
DTC P0446 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent System Performance
This DTC tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a restricted or blocked EVAP vent path. The control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Open and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Closed. This allows vacuum to be applied to the EVAP system. Once a calibrated vacuum level has been reached, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Closed and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Open. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor for a decrease in vacuum. If the vacuum does not decrease to near 0 inches H2O in a calibrated time, this DTC sets.

Update: I took the car to a mechanic that specializes in auto electrics and he found that the wire that goes to the back oxygen sensor had chaffed through over the transmission and was shorting out and blowing the fuse. He repaired it and the car runs beautifully.

the ground comes from the ecm. either the ground wire is open or ecm is not sending the signal

check transfer case electrical switch, sometime if it bad it will also blow the fuse. don't recommend you put any higher fuse than recommend, If the fuse blow there is a short some where and by putting higher amp fuse you might short or burn something else beside the fuse. if that check out than check your transfer case motor, might lock up and not allowing the motor to turn instead it short the fuse. don't drive the car, just leave it in park, put correct fuse amp back in and unplug transfer case electric switch and turn the key on (dont start the car) and see if the fuse blow; if not plug it back in and see if it blow the fuse. if that is not the case, unplug transfer case wire, and do the same and see if it blow the fuse.

in my experience the usual culprit is the evap cannister. the problem is it gets moisture in it and freezes during winter thus cracking the plastic. if you lay under the car and look at the evap box it black plastic and if you see a loose or cracked hose or the box itself is cracked that is most likely it. as a side note you can check the gas cap and buy a new one to see if that rectifies the situation. lastly i don't think the gas tank should be suspect as you would probably notice if gas was leaking out of the tank. if you take the car to a dealer or shop they can do a smoke test and determine where the leak is.

replace the blower motor. Chevy is notorious for blower motors.. It seizes up, draws too much current then the fuse goes.
