I have a 1995 Saturn SL1 (manual transmission) the car is reving really high in 3rd, 4th and 5th with very little acceleration, I was told it was teh gears slipping or it could just be the fluid, any suggestions?
Sounds like the friction surface of the clutch disc is slipping. You would have to install a new clutch (clutch disc, pressure plate, and clutch release bearing), and have the flywheel surface cut and polished back to perfect smooth by a shop.
Manual transmission gears don't slip like automatics. And lack of fluid in the transaxle or the hydraulic clutch system won't cause this either.

This just happen to me a few weeks ago. If you take out the center piece in the car you should be able to see that the actual shifter is no longer connected to the rod which goes into the transmission. It is an easy problem to fix, however it is not cheap. I was told that you have to buy a complete new kit($250.00) for the shifter, however my dad gave me a different solution. He took some wire, and made a spider web type thing to keep it connected. On my car it was a small round plastic piece that broke, but I cannot remember what it was actually called. This little piece is not available through Saturn by itself, only through a complete kit. Please ask questions if this is not clear enough. Thanks :)

Add some ATF in the dipstick behind the battery, below the master brake cylinder. The dipstick is weird and hard to find. It has a red flip cap instead of a pull ring. I know this is too late to help the poster, but others are looking for this. (Like myself.) Question? kurt1431 at comcast dot net.

The fluid and speed sensor did not really do anything to solve your slipping problem. If it slipped before it could be that there are chips/breaks in the teeth on the gears or it could be that the clutch is not connecting when it gets into higher gears. May need a new tranny or clutch.

take it to a 'jiffy lube' place and pay them to do it.Will probably cost $29.
SOURCE: 1997 sL1 Saturn manual transmission hard to change gears
The dipstick is behind the battery, below the master brake cylinder and is not the clutch reservoir. It has a red flip top handle instead of a ring like most dipsticks. It was hard for me to find due to engine grease. I had the same problem and was able to see that I was low on fluid (only a little) and adding fluid helped the problem.
