Question about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Front end whining noise. Just had new rotors and pads fitted on the front and now have a high pitched whining noise coming from the front at 15-20mph upwards. It stops if i release the accelerator and coast and stops as i slow down below the 15-20mph. Gear changes are as quick and smooth as theyve always been and seems to drive perfectly normally apart from this noise!! Any Ideas anyone?

I would take it to the shop that did the repairs and take them for a ride and let them know it started after the repaired the brakes.

Check to make sure the back plate/dust shield is not touching the brake rotor.

You need new brake pads and rotor (either resurfaced or replaced depending on rotor condition).

High pitch sound coming from ritgh front alex

There are parts on the brake pads called squeeler clips. These are for making an audible noise to warn you that the front brake pad is very close to failing. It means you are about to damage the front Rotor and are close to losing the front brake for stopping purposes.

The second possibility is the front axle bearing or CVC joint is failing.

When driving at speed i get a loud whine/shriek from rear driver side wheel, when breaks are applied noise goes. (disc ?) new discs fitted 3 years ago.

the brake pads have a wear indicator as the pads wear the indicator will tuch the brake rotor and make a high pitch shriek, so you need new brake pads.

Front rotors whine

a whine or a squeel
if you put hard long life pads on the material used sometimes makes that noise the nonmetalic pads are the best way to go as they don't wear out the rotors as bad but you need to change the pads sooner . the harder the pads the longer the life but they are hard on the rotors as well ,let the pads seat for a while and see if the noise eases up

Whining noise from front of 2003 impala.higher

Sounds like it could be the wheel bearing. Jack up the car, and see if the tire feels loose when pushing in and out at the top and bottom of the tire. That;s the most obvious way to check. But many times, the bearing is tight, but still bad.

Apparently the whine is car speed related and not engine speed. I'm surprised that you didn't say anything about checking the wheel bearings?

Front end noise

Sounds like rust build up on the rotors, this is a common problem with after market rotors,or it is a squealer tab and they squeal to warn you before damage is done to the rotors when brake pads are 2/3 worn down.have a brake inspection done.
