Programming a honda transponder key - 2007 Honda Pilot

  • Anonymous Apr 27, 2017

This is for remote keyless programing to open and close the doors and not to start your car which needs the transponder in the key to be programed. two separate thing.

I lost the original key to my 2005 Dodge Stratus 2.7 L. and I have a transponder key that i paid for .. the locksmith couldn't program it cuz my car didn't start so he said he couldn't program it

If this new transponder key is not original to your vehicle you won't be able to do it in the car. Ask a few Auto Electricians as they might be able to do it if yours is an older vehicle.
If yours is a newer model you will probably need to take the transponder key to a dealership with your vehicle details for them to program it.

CAN I put the new transponder key i gotcut at honda in RKE TRANSMITTER OUTLET TO PROGRAM it?

everything will more than likely need to be reprogrammed at the same time. contact a local locksmith that does automotive work. lock smiths are much cheaper and do just as good a job.

My remote transponder key starts the car but does not open the door or lock it remotely even with a new battery.

Remote starts are not a factory option. None do it. Dealers will. But it is all aftermarket. I have taken out hundreds of them. I refuse to install them.

My 2007 honda accord has igination key problem,i remove the remote and weld a washer to the key. Now the car could not start, please what may be the problem and how will i fix it

Keys are fitted with transponders that are recognised by the car and allow the engine to start. If you have a key without a recognised transponder then even if the key will turn in the lock, the car will not start. You may have possibly damaged or even destroyed the transponder when you welded the washer to the key.

2001 honda accord keys were stolen and the thief broke into my car. Do I need to totally rekey or can I just reprogram the transponder and have the doors not work with the old key?

Hello Sophie,

FIRST OFF ...
>> I would ALWAYS choose a LOCKSMITH
over a DEALER regardless of cost (strong opinion).

Very sorry to hear of your violation...
It never feels the same but now you are SAFER with the
knowledge ... you were never actualy safe.

If other than your CAR keys were ALSO taken...
YOU NEED TO FOCUS on those other KEYS
FIRST (particularly house & mail-box)

Truth is...
your car is never ANY safer than the GLASS IN THE Door
(and only we... the owners... care about that GLASS).

Car TRANSPONDER locks are another situation.

If you use a LOCKSMITH it will be cheaper & safer.

I have used eBay to get my new KEY and KEYLESS
entry fobs... AND ... would TRUST a LOCKSMITH worlds
better & longer than I could throw a DEALERSHIP...!!

My niece had her car UNLOCKED and her HIGH-END
sound equipment expertly removed THE NIGHT
following getting her HONDA serviced at
OAKLAND HONDA ...
She nor I FEEL it was a coincidence (opinions)...

Where-as...
LOCKSMITHS trade on their excellent REPUTATION
and do the SAME work for half (or less) the COST.

2001 HONDA ACCORD 3 0L V6 Ignition Lock Cylinder RockAuto

REMEMBER to ask them the ERASE/OVERWRITE the
old keys & FOBs.

The locksmiths MIGHT know how to RE-KEY your existing cylinders (I think un-necessary)...
Dealers probably (opinon/experience) won't even TRY...

and of course...
NEVER leave anything of value in your car!!

If you are serious about this comment me back... I'll pull
your owners manual and look for your capabilities.....
Pretty sure WITHOUT 2 PROGRAMMED IGNITION keys
you can do NOTHING YOURSELF.

Does honda civic lx 2002 have a chip in the key? the black part of my key got broke but the key will turn the car on but wont actually start it

Yes, it contains a transponder chip. If you still have the fob part with the chip in tape it to the plastic close to where you put the key in. Honda used a proximity transponder so as long as it is near by it will read it ok.
