I'm having the same problem. On a cold start, it's fine...starts right up. On a hot start after it's been sitting for a little bit, like when shopping, I can hear the fuel pump priming and stop like normal. Just replaced the fuel filter and that wasnt the problem. However on a hot start it takes maybe 20 tries or more till it starts out of the blue, for no reason. Plugs, wires are new as well. I've checked ALL fuses and relays.

99 Olds Silhouette starting problem. Starts fine when cold. Cranks but doesn't start when hot. I have to wait between 15-60 minutes (depending on weather temp) for the engine temp to return to near cold to get started again. Has been through computer diagnostics twice now but problems couldn't be fine. To me, the van sounds like it's not getting fuel. Any suggestions?99 Olds Silhouette starting problem. How do you know it's getting Fuel? Sure sounds like it is not getting fuel since the car will Giggle when Starter Fluid is added.
Can you hear the Fuel pump run for a second when you turn the key to the RUN position?
the egr would have a tube coming from the exhaust and usually bolts to the intake, the mass airflow would be in between your air filter and the inake plenum, but the car doesnt use these sensors untel its in closed loop it wont enter closed loop untill the ect(engine coolant temperature) and the o2(oxegen sensor) heater curcuit is up to temp i would check to se if you have spark and fuel if not check for pcm codes but i would probably start with the crank sensor or pcm the crank sensor is the common
Check your starter and check your connections to make sure they are clean and tight. The low fuel pressure won't cause a no crank. Too low could cause a no start but not a no crank. I've had starters be bad right out of the box. But if that starter motor isn't turning either the starter motor is bad or the solenoid attached or the wiring to it is at fault.
Jambo Jambo. This problem, unfortunately is going to be in the fuel injector pump itself. If the veins are wearing it will begin to fail at high RPMs when the fuel demand is high. You are on the right track though. It is fuel. Replace the injector pump and time accordingly. Feel free to contact me if you need anything else.
easy way to test for it being fuel.open air filter box spray alittle starter fluid.then try starting if it runs or fires over its fuel related.if not then its sensor or fuse related.hope that helps.make sure the fluid is ma safe.meaning mass airflow sensor safe.as some starter fluids will mess them up.
the fuel pump will only give fuel when cranking the car over & when it is running. the relays (2) of them are lactated on the inside driver side under the kick plate on the center console. look right next to the radio you see the brass bracket holding too relays? it is up there being held on by a 10mm nut. but fyi recheck the fuel pump power. check it with someone cranking the engine over if you are getting power to the fuel pump then its not the relays.. the car i just found this problem in ended up being the mass airflow sensor is so touchy that the air filter was clogged & once the filter was removed it started right up..
