Can shift solenoid on 2004 Mazda MPV be replaced individually

My 2004 Mazda MPV could not upshift and stalled at 20 mph. The Mazda dealer told me that the car has a stuck open shift solenoid, with code PO752, and that I need to replace the entire transmission with a rebuilt. My local mechanic store said it can replace the faulty shift solenoid. The cost of replacing the faulty shift solenoid is much less. My question is whether the shift solenoid on 2004 Mazda MPV can be replaced individually?

03 Mazda MPV. Stalls at idle.. Shutters on take off

It sounds like your transmission is either not shifting down to first gear, or the lock up in the converter is not releasing.

1996 GMC suburban wont upshift.

when u changed the fluid was it dark /brownish and smelt burnt and was their filings or shavings on the magnet in pan if so more than likely your transmission may be fried---a bad vacuum that would cause shifting problems would also cause the truck to run rough and or stall

Electronic pressure control solenoid circuit p1745. Check engine light on 2000 ford escort, 4cl, automatic. Advance auto told me it was a dealer part but I can't find it on any of the ford websites?...

Here is what the service manual says about the EPC solenoid, the processor looks at allot of different inputs to command the solenoids, such as Throttle Position Sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensors, Transmission Range Sensor and RPM signal, The PCM controls the shift patterns for the transmission. Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) Solenoid
The electronic pressure control (EPC) solenoid is located on the main control valve body and is controlled by the PCM. The EPC controls line pressure used to apply and release clutches and bands in the transmission.
The 2-3 shift solenoid is located on the main control valve body and is switched on and off by electrical signals from the PCM. The 2-3 shift solenoid activates the 2-3 shift valve which controls the automatic shifting between second and third gear. Second gear is established when the 2-3 shift solenoid is switched on. The 2-3 shift solenoid is switched off when vehicle speed increases and requires a second to third gear upshift.
The 3-4 shift solenoid is located on the main control valve body and is switched on and off by electrical signals from the PCM. The 3-4 shift solenoid activates the 3-4 shift valve which controls the automatic shifting between third and fourth gear. Third gear is established when the 3-4 solenoid is switched off. The 3-4 shift solenoid is switched on when vehicle speed increases and requires a third to fourth gear upshift.

MPV shift shock. This will be fix by having transmission control module reprogrammed at the dealership.

2004 mazda mpv. suddenly unable to shift from park into any gear. what happened?

Probable culprit would be the electric solenoid that releases the gear shift linkage when you apply the brake pedal. Since it's electric, a dead battery will cause the same result. Check to see if your brake lights are working. If not try replacing your brake light switch as this also gets power to the above mentioned solenoid.

This is a safety feature to prevent children from accidentally putting a car in gear.

Good luck!

Trans starts out fine, will upshift to 2nd while in OD position but will begin to slip at about 30-35 mph. From that point it will upshift if gear shift is placed in 2 position. Doesn't seem to go past...

well, whoever did the transmission needs to look at it again. It sounds like a solenoid problem internally in the transmission.or a plug, wiring,or vacuum leak

Transmission kicks shifting to second gear

This is a known issue with certain '03 and '04 MPV transmissions; my 2003 had the same problem. There is a Mazda technical service bulletin about this - 05-003/004 (Shift Shock). You need to take the van to a qualified shop and have them flash the transmission control module (TCM) with new firmware.

I had this done. It did not completely fix the problem but it did reduce its occurrence.
