2003 Avalanch fuel gage

I filled up my truck and the next day when I started my truck the fuel gage went past full and all the way around to the bottom side of empty. Now, my gage works but its upside down.  I love my truck and never have had any problems until this happened

You have a problem with the stepper motor gauge that Chevy used in the 02-06? Avalanche. All the gauges use the same stepper motor. They just go wonky and do all kinds of weird things. I have replaced two on mine already and two more are now acting up. There is a guy selling the motors and the repair for this problem on E-bay.

My fuel pump went out on 2003 Pontiac Grand Am so we put a new one in and now the fuel gage says it's only 3 quarter full when it's totally full

there maybe a problem caused when you replaced the pump. you may have to pull the pump out and make sure the gage float travels its full range and is not getting caught on something when you changed the pump.

I have been having this same problem since about 6 months into owning the car... I have had it back to the dealership around 5 times including having the fuel guage replaced which fixed the problem for only a few months until it went back to this half full situation... I believe the tank is actually full and wonder what would happen if I just ran it past the empty warning... would the car stop? I just had it back at the dealer and they said they reset the equipment and on the way home I filled the tank and guess what? yes half full! so it is booked in again for next week... I agree it is annoying not to mention the having to fill the tank twice as often... would love to know if you had a resolution...

I hope you did not top it off because filing it up like that will wreck havoc on the evap system. The engine light should go away as the gas in your tank is used up, or it may take some time, but hopefully it goes away. Just next time you fill up don't top off when it clicks off thats it. Also make sure the gas cap is tight. A loose gas cap can make the check engine light come on. I am an emmission repair specialist, and deals with these crazy things sometimes lol.

Check engine light came on, along with low fuel indicator.

I took the vehicle to the Jeep dealership, and the problem went away before they could check it out. They are going to check wiriing next, because the check engine light went out on its own, and the fuel gage began working corectly on its own. Not sure what caused it, but hope to have an answer from the dealer.

I need help resetting my 94 GMC seirra's gas gage

the gas gauge is on the fuel pump assembly with in the fuel tank, you must have bumped it during reassembly. the only solution is removal. pull it out check for alignment and binding, reassemble being very careful. hope this helps.
