I have a range rover 4.0, it was running fine untill the lait evening when i went to the grossery store. it cranks but wont start. checked the battery, its fine, checked the fuse box its all well.had to get the brake down to pull me hom. checked it the next morning, it does not start but it cranks fine. i have realized that there is no sparks coming out when starting the car. what could be the problem. the fuel pump is okey. i have run a diagnose and it read two codes that is CAN timeout monitoring and CAN level monitoring. Any ideas? for my experience, these two codes does not led the car not start, coz the don't control the sparks , could it be the crank shaft sensor? please help e out

It sounds like you're not getting enough fuel see if any of the fuel lines are leaking. Even the vent tube on the gas tank to filler neck, because that can cause poor fuel pressure.Another thing would be the stepper motor is going bad. And last check the cold start sensor right by the thermostat, the sensor with one wire going to it and is facing straight forward.

Hi Adam,
Bring your vehicle to an auto parts or battery store. Ask if they could perform a 'Load Check' on your battery. This not only checks the voltage, but also the amps, as if it were under the load of turning your engine.
It takes a few seconds and the results are pass or fail. Fail means it's time for a new battery. Pass means we need to look elsewhere.
Comment back the results.
Hope you find this to be very helpful

SOURCE: RANGE ROVER P38, PARKED UP NO PROBLEM , NEXT
Hi,
This also happened to my P38, parked at night ok and next morning nothing.
I had a BBS faultmate which when connected told me that 'the engine ecu had not received the code from the BeCu in the specified time'.
I'd had enough by this time and sold the car and the new owner send both these ecus away to get reprogrammed (at a cost).
This may or may not be your problem, it could be an immobiliser fault but being a P38 (loved mine by the way despite all it's foilbles!!) it could be any one of a number of things.
Really without diagnostics your p***ing into the wind with a lot of the faults in a P38 I'm sorry to say.
Sorry not to be more of a help and good luck with it.

Hello
The engine
and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train
are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM
(Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the
computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some
exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature
sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in
its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems
memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read
you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and
resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A
TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR
HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM
