Flooding and fouling plugs

1988 f-150 5.0 302 i can put new plugs in this motor i have put new fuel presure regulator crank runs good for a while then fouls plugs what is the problem. help.

Running too rich..Not sure exactly what the problem is. Might be best to buy a repair book and look it up on there..they have them at the library or you can get one online here.

wet plugs ar flooded plugs , indicates a problem with injector control change the ECM unit and check the fule pressure regulator
could be the fuel pressure regulator is running to high and so the pressure is bypassing the injector needles into the manifold

Check the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum hose off it, If it smells of gas, Replace the regulator. Diaphragm broke and is flooding the engine threw that vacuum line. You'll also need to replace the spark plugs. Gas will foul them out also.

If this has a Vortec motor, the fuel regulator could be leaking inside the motor causing it to flood each time you try to start it. If you remove a spark plug from one side of the motor and inspect it and it's fouled, but you pull a plug from the other side and it's white, this would be a symptom. Another symptom would be if you remove a device on the intake and white whispy smoke or wetness is visible in the intake when you shine a light. It should never be wet in there. Also you may find an odor of fuel after removing an intake hose.These problems can be corrected by locating a replacement kit with a new fuel regulator on the Internet and following instructions to replace the component. Check the fuel pressure regulator,and the fuel return line all the way back to the fuel tank,one ,or the other is stopped up,or the fuel regulator is closed up.I would check the fuel return line first,this is the most likely problem.

Thee new fuels today go bad after around 3 weeks because of the ethonol content. Put a can of Sea Foam in the gas tank see if that helps clean it out. Best bet is to drain the tank put new fuel in it with a can of Sea Foam, then give it a good long run until the tank is empty. Re fill the tank and put the correct amount of Stabil in the with the gas, this will stop the gas from turning into sugar and it works for years.

2000 Silverado 1500: location of fuel presure regulator...

The regulator is on the fuel rail on the driver side of the motor. Look for a vacuum line that plugs into the top of the regulator. If you suspect yours is bad, with the engine shut off pull the vacuum line off. If gas runs out then the regulator is bad.

1986 flooding bad raw fuel

First try the fuel regulator make sure it isn't leaking and dumping fuel through the vacuum line. it is on the fuel rail near the rear of the engine. Also make sure the ground cable from the battery to the engine block is nice and tight this will cause a flooding condition

Three or four cranks shouldnt soak a plug that soon. I would check out your fuel presure regulator , sounds like its gone haywire and is stuck open.
