Where is the fuse box located in 1997 BMW 740IL, I need to replace a fuse for the heater/blower. thank you There was no choice of 740IL in the drop down choice box, so 750 is not the one I need, its the 740IL

For the BMW 7 series (E38) 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 model year. Fuse box in engine compartment. fuse box location. Open the hood.

see if there is an inline fuse on the power wire to the radio. It appears to be a known issue. Check out the link

It's located inside the power distribution panel.

The power distribution panel on your car is located under the hood in the engine compartment. It is located on the right passenger side closest to the firewall.

When you open the cover to the PDP, you'll see a series of blade type fuses in the front compartment and a bunch of wire harnesses in the back- that's where you'll find the tan colored relay you need to replace.

I have attached a youtube video for you to watch because it appears that the most common cause of this relay failure is due to water build up in the PDP compartment which is causing serious wiring deterioration and rusting- not only to the wiper relay but to the other relay components in that block.

So should you be experiencing the same problem when you open the power distribution panel, you'll know what to do.

the blower motor resister is located in the center of the dash board right above the radio,you have to remove the top part of the dash board to get to it. Its not that hard. about a 35minute job if u have some car knowledge. you can go to bimmer forum and there u will find pics and instructions on how to do this job. good luck

Is the lid to your fuse box missing?
The AC fuses are 16, 23, 31, 39. The heater blower is fuse 20. It is hard to describe which fuses those are if you don't have the diagram that is molded in the underside of the fuse box lid, but 20 is the last fuse on the right in the second row.
On a '97, if your climate control computer has not failed yet, you are on borrowed time. The fix is easy and cheap. Google "Frontiernet Farm Boy Home" for detailed instructions on my web page.

replace resistor/fuse before motor.

its under the hood close to the battery follow the wires from the battery until you get to a panel with a removable top it should be under there...

The fuse bos should be int he back left of the trunk under the carpet on the side. Peel back the carpet from the side...slowly and you should find it there.
