HELP. I just got back from driving my truck and it won't accelerate when I give it gas. When it idles it goes fast/slow on the idle and sometimes just kills itself on me. It won't let me go any faster than 30-35mph and stops and dies out when on the highway. I've got the truck at home now which is a good thing. What to do?

The ecm will tell the iac to idle up when it senses the ac is turned on.If the ac compressor doesn`t come on,there is no resistance on the motor, but the motor does not know that,so it idles up.Find out why the ac is doing this,it wouldn`t be low on freon,it would have to be,most likely the ac clutc going bad.Try this, turn ac on and when ac clutch goes off,be ready, and don`t get hurt, tap it lightly with a tool or something, but be carefull!.If it clicks back on,try it again when it stops,to make sure. This will tell you the ac clutch/coil assembley is bad.

You could have one of several problems. Could be an electric fuel pump going bad or it could be your distributor module. More than likely it is the distributor module.

You seem to have the dreaded IAC ( idle air control valve) problem that Ford is famous for. The first likely suspect is the IAC valve itself, but there can be other contributing factors. With the amount of space I could not do the subject justice, but there are many online Ford forums that address this problem. I think the Ford price for the IAC is around $100. The Autozone cheapie is around $50. I think the Ford unit is a better part, but you have to make your decision. Do some reading up on the subject before buying any parts though.
Good luck.
