SOURCE: Need to replace the 1995 toyota corolla ignition lock cylinder

You need to pull the plastic covers from above and below the steering wheel off. Then put your key in the ignition and turn it to the acc position, then there is a small button either on the top or bottom of the tumbler assembly, it will be inset and you will need a small pointy screwdriver or something to reach it. When you push the button the ignition assembly and the key will come out together

SOURCE: Tilt Steering Wheel lever appears broken - locked

This is a simple mechanical issue (no electronics involved).

Remove the plastic housing from around the steering column and ignition area. It is held with screws from under the column area. There are two screws from the top that you may need a short screwdriver to reach. Some are phillips and some are hex head. Just take your time it will come.

Once open you will see interlocking teeth or "gears" on the top of the column. One in mounted to the column the other engages into the tilt release teeth. This is the tilt mechanism. The top lever is lifted up by the adjusting lever. When the teeth are disengaged the wheel can be moved up and down.

Look to see the linkage is intact from the lever to the top gear. Pull the adjusting lever to see it is working and trying to lift the top gear up.

It can stick. Use WD40 if struck. Try shaking the steering wheel up and down while operating the adjusting lever (right side of column behind the turn signal lever).

Still struck? Use a screwdriver to lift the gears apart. The wheel will tilt easily now. Move to the desired position and engage the gears again. It will now be locked in the position you want.

It sounds complex but it is not. Just take your time and it will be obvious.

Note that while working you should have the negative cable removed from the battery. You do not want to trigger the air bag or damage the electronics. With the negative cable removed you will not have a problem.

SOURCE: replace the rear wheel bearing

better check a manual, The ones I have done do not have c-clips in the diff. You remove 4 nuts behind the brake backing plate, then use a slide hammer to pull out the axle shafts. Then the bearing retainer must be removed (cut or drill into it, the crack it with a hammer blow from a chisel), it should slide off the axle. Then use a bearing splitter and a press to remove the bearing. To install use a long pipe and press to install the new bearing and retainer. Change the seal while your in there. Hope this helps.

Are any of the parts on a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee interchangeable with a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee? rear axle, wheels, power-steering, hood hyrdraulics?

A few parts should be interchangeable. Most of them will not be however since the Grand Cherokee underwent a complete re-design for 1999. Some engines and transmissions will switch out. The rear axle in the 97 was commonly a Dana/Spicer 35. This was replaced with a larger rear differential in 1999 for increased towing capacity. The wheels should interchange ok, power steering system was pretty much the same and as long as the hydraulics (supports) on the hood are the same length they should work

Steering wheel moves up and down

You must take the steering wheel apart and tighten the bolts that hold the tilt joint together, a 4 hour job.

My steering wheel moves up and down and left and right i dont know how to fix it or figure out whats wrong

If it is the tilt steering wheel, then you have two bolts near the tilt part of it that have backed out. You need some special tools to get to the bolts, but not too hard if you can get the tool to remove the snap ring that holds the plate on. If you don't have tilt, most likely the bearings in the steering column are bad, and you would need a new steering column.

Does this have a tilt steering wheel? If it does then it sounds like the tilt part is coming apart, need to take the steering wheel of and get to the tilt part and tighten up the bolts/screws,if you have never done this i highly suggest you take it to a professional. The other way to repair this easy is to buy a used steering column that is good and replace the whole unit .

Broken tilt steering in a 1991 jeep cherokee

Yes it can be fixed, but it is a pain in the ****, done dozen's of them, hated every one. You are going to have to pull the steering wheel off and then remove the turn signal cam, under that you will find the screws to remove the upper bowl assembly (u will need to unplug turn signal harness at base of column), remove that, under that u will find the bolts for the tilt that have come loose
