Question about 2003 Saturn ION

Are my struts out on my 04 Saturn ION?

Everytime I'm driving there is this terrible knocking noise in front and rear of my Saturn ION.  It's getting worse and when I took it to the body shop, he told me that it was not my struts and "I got what I paid for."  I know it's got to be the struts in front and the shocks in back because over even mild bumps, it knocks badly.

    I have this same problem for when I drive over uneven roads where my car pops and I just replaced my struts and shocks a year ago. I was told that I need to replace my sway bar end links and that it is possibly that they went bad.

    this sway bar/ end links is a known issue. the replacement parts have a different part # than the stock parts

I agree. I see sway bar links go bad and make nosie much more often than struts on Ion's. Take it to a service center you trust.

Knocking nosie from left side of 06 saturn ion? hear it all the time but mainly after 2nd gear when it shifts is the worst part?
Have your motor supports checked. Also the drive shaft could be causing the problem if that knocking is not coming from inside the motor.

Knocking in front end had linkages replaced but the knocking is still there
replace the front struts AND the turn plates above them, they call those the "strut kits". it houses a bearing plate that turn with the steering wheel.... if the struts are too expensive to replace right now, just have the strut KITS replaced. Very common with 80K+ front wheel drive cars and almost always an area most people look over. good luck

My 04 saturn ion is making a rattilig noise when engine is runing, it 's louder when put in drive, soungs like something is lose like my exause.
It could be only way is to look under the car, but common noises for this car is timing chain guides wear out and chain makes rattling noises. also consider serpentine belt tensioner.

I have a 1994 Saturn SL2. There is a knocking noise coming from the front passenger side of the car possibly near the the tire. It's not the motor because you hear it more on a bumpy road. After about 2...
If it is a constant knock, I would check the cv shaft,(drive shaft ) on that side. you can grab it and there should be no movement up or down or side to side. If it is the shaft and that much noise it will move quite a bit. Get this replaced as soon as possible. this is not safe to drive and could cost you a transmission if it breaks completely. If you need to drive it to a garage take back roads and drive slowly. best is to get it towed. If you 've got the tools and want to do it yourself let me know and I can guide you thru it. Struts will make noises but only on bumps, the same with ball joints.
