You have power where at the starter ? Heavy positive cable or the control wire at the solenoid ? Is the truck manual or automatic trans ? Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Do you know how to use a wiring diagram for testing electrical circuits ? How to use a DMM - digital multi-meter ? Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on engine ,then under subsystem click on charging system . Starter circuit is the first one under that system. Click the search button then the blue link. A lot involved here that could cause a no crank . Ignition switch ,crank fuse , park neutral safety switch for automatic trans . clutch switch for manual trans . Starter relay ,ign.fuse 40 amp , Heavy gage battery cable to the starter solenoid , an if you have B+ voltage at that cable doesn't mean it can't be bad . Corrosion will cause voltage drop , need to test while trying to crank the engine .

Do you know how a relay works ?
VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis your starter relay works just like this one in the video .

SOURCE: 1999 Chevy S10 cranks but wont start

A very common problem on the 99 S10 is a leaky fuel pressure regulator in the intake plenum. What happens is when the truck sits for a few hours or more the regulator leaks all of the fuel in the fuel injection system into the intake air plenum. This does 2 things, 1 it has no fuel pressure when starting and 2 it floods the air intake with raw fuel. Sometimes if you turn the key on wait 3 seconds then turn key off then turn key back on and just turn key to crank starter for a split second and wait 3 seconds.do this 3 times to repressurize fuel system then crank to start(you will hear fuel pump buzz each time you do this.also you may have leaky fuel injectors. Try to crank engine with the gas pedel to the floor. This will tell the computer to stop spraying fuel trhough the injectors and it will start. Joe ASE Master Tech

SOURCE: Why is security light blinking on a chevrolet

That means there is a problem with the VATS System. This sometimes happens when the battery is disconnected for an extended period. You might need to do a relearn for the keys. You can get it done with the right scanner in 5 minutes, but there is a way to do it without one.

Turn the key to the start position, release it to the on position, then leave it on for 11 minutes, then turn it off. Repeat this sequence three times, and on the fourth try it should start if that was the problem.

What does the alternater have to do with no crank on 2004 pontiac montana new battery

Nothing, if the battery is new you may have a bad starter.
Check ground wire from starter to where it's bolted to the frame; if you see corrosion remove cable and clean with a wire brush. Reset cable see if engine cranks. While you're at it, do the same thing to your battery ground cable. Good luck.

It could be as simple as a poor connection on the starter solenoid wire. Is it a push-on connector? One could do a little checking. When the starter won't work, test for power on the solenoid wire when key is held in crank. If power there, clean the connector, and check if starter works. No power? Then move to the neutral safety switch, check for power leaving the switch, key in crank, and clutch depressed. Power should be passing through the switch.
Another thing to check is all your grounds-the battery, the engine ground, computer harness ground.

How to replace starter ram 50 2.6

You did not list the year but i will give you the most common way.
First thing is to remove the negative battery terminal, locate starter. the starter will be at the rear of the engine near front of the transmission. There will be a small wire, remove this wire from starter, this is the trigger wire which powers up the starter when key is in the crank position.
Next is the big cable size wire located next to small wire you just removed, this is constant battery voltage from battery. remove and set aside, with battery terminal removed from battery you will not need to worry about it shorting out against frame or other metal.
All wires are removed now. next will be to remove the bolts holding the starter on.this starter may have 2 or three bolts.remove them.note some cars run a ground battery cable to starter bolt, if your has that then take note of location and put ground back on same bolt .It does not really matter which starter bolt as they all will ground but the reach is why i say to just put back on same bolt.Next is remove the starter. hope this helps, good day

86 fordtruck new starter tuck want turn over

Go back and recheck the wiring to starter first. I suspect it's either the starter solenoid or a bad ground to starter if you are sure you are getting power to the starter. Make sure the ground is getting good contact. If you can put the ground cable to one of the mounting bolts on the starter to make better contact insted of the engine block. Clean the area before installing the ground. Be sure you disconnect the ground cable from the battery before you start work on the starter. Hope this will help you.

Check and make sure the battery is good, have it load checked, then check the battery connections to make sure they are clean and shiny. No grey or black residue on the battery connection,or the battery terminals, where they go on the battery, this will act as a insulator, and the battery will not get charged up enough,or put out enough amps to crank the vehicle,if it still does this ,with all this checked and corrected, then the starer is defective, replace the defective starter with a new one.

Is the ground for the engine and the battery clean and working properly check at point of connection with test light to see if all grounds are OK and make sure no positive cable are bare and touching metal causing a ground fault and blowing fuse . check wires at battery and going to starter some times wires will burn through and touch other wires or metal causing a direct ground. good luck

What can cause a 89 camaro not to start.

When you got the new starter did it come with a new solenoid or did you reuse the old one? If you used the old one, replace it. If there is a new one on the starter, then double check your connections on the starter. Clean up the terminal ends with emery cloth ,put them back on and make sure they are tight. Be careful that you don't overtighten the small bolt, it breaks easy. Use a lock washer on it and make sure it is snug. Clean the cable ends at the battery and make sure they are tight, and the ground that goes to the engine,at the engine. If there was a pain in the --- bolt on the front of your starter that connected the starter to an engine bracket , put it back on, it is a ground for your starter. If it won't start after you clean everything up then use a screwdriver or something like that to ground your starter case to the frame. If it starts then, put a ground cable the same thickness as your battery cable on that front stud on your starter and run it to the frame. That should make it start regularly. There is a possibilty that your fusible links are bad, but because it clicks I think they are probably okay. As a last resort replace them if none of the above works. They are two big pieces of rubber on your wire harness at the starter. Just cut them out and splice the wires back together. This would be a last resort if everything else fails, but it should start before you get that far. It sounds to me like it just isn't getting quite enough juice and the first couple of things should solve that problem. Hope this helps.
