02 jeep liberty backup !ights wont work bulbs are good

02 jeep. lib.
so fuse are first. anytime elect fail check fuses;.
stated over 1million time here, and is true.
then what is second, scan it, to see if PCM/TCM knows why.
The TCM (tranny brain will tell you if the TRS is bad, a fact)

all scan tool here in usa scan this car, and tells you why.
the car with a autotmatic trans (is it) has TRS switch
trans range switch.
this switch sends 12vdc to the rear when in REVERSE.
many of these cars have many engine choices, not stated here. nor what trans is there, the trans matches engines.
so.... each trans uses a different TRS,
to diagnose this we use a volt meter, if the TRS has 12v in
and no 12vdc out on the R pin , its bad.
easy no?
why not log into mitchell;s DIY and see the schematic there.
2002 KJ Jeep it is.
i have the book.
ill now guess, that its an usa car, and is automatic.
ok?
3.7liter engine
this trans the TRS is deep in side the trans, must drop trans pan to reach it, so we do all the above first, to avoid guessing and to do that we use a voltmeter to PROVE the TRS is bad
see?
if car is stick shift, is it? the switch is easy, on left side of box.
this is how all cars work , its called drive train if you post not telling that all you get is no anwser or wrong answers
is that good?, I think not.

this is the automatic, see part 5, and now deep that is?
this is pan off, valve body off view....
26309010-c5eqxh1jp52x53cr354rayll-2-0.jpg here is the schematic for 2002
that TRS is burried deep see?
if pin 1 is 12vdc in REVerse
and pin 6 is not, the TRS is TOASTED ! (BAD)

Location of back up light switch for 2002 jeep liberty

The switch is on the outside of the transmission case. See a photo of it below. It may have a short lead on it or the harness plugs directly in.

My 97 starts fine but check engine code says neutral safety switch?

wow, no DTC stated, so we must guess which one, and IS KEY to the cause..
ah , smog fails for CEL glowing
said but true
and it dont lie, the switch , conn. or wires to it are bad.
the real question is where is it and how to test it.
you can google neutral safety switch all day and learn what it does.
The TJ jeep
has. the 42RLE box.
TRS it has. "transmission range, switch"
here it is.

TRANSMISSION RANGE
SENSOR
DESCRIPTION
The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) is mounted
to the top of the valve body inside the transmission
and can only be serviced by removing the valve body
assembly. The electrical connector extends through
the transmission case (Fig. 249

26131331-sfgrgt5j1genusl55xvezfzt-4-1.jpgREMOVAL
(1) Disconnect the TRS connector.
(2) Remove valve body assembly from vehicle. (OOPS)!
(3) Remove the manual shaft seal (Fig. 250).
(5) Slide TRS off of manual valve shaft.
INSTALLATION
(1) Install the TRS to the manual shaft. Make sure
TRS locating pin rests in manual valve bore slot.
(2) Install the TRS/manual shaft retaining screw
and torque to 5 N·m (45 in. lbs.) torque.
(3) Install the manual shaft seal.
(4) Install valve body to the transmission.

my points! given above. facts.
check fuses first.we check the voltages second at p/n sense pins.check for corrosion on the 3 pins related, even re-seat all connectors and pray it goes away cleaning all 3 with real electrical conn spray.does this help?

btw , you never asked a question?
1: how can I fix this.?
2: who, can? (any ASE shop on earth)
3: what parts do I need? (a TRS)
4: what are the steps. (posted)
so i guessed, 1 and 3 and 4.

Where is the neutral safety switch located on a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

no symptoms posted?, just a hunt. the scan tool show. P0706 ?????? what?
ok, we've answered this many times.
here goes again,
depends on the trans, !
the side switch called PRNDL, on side of box, in plain site.
the buried deep switch called the TRS switch.
545RFE (gas engine trans) bingo?
NAG1 (diesel.) guess no....
ill roll dice for you and land on 545
FSM chapter 21 covers all this.
now page 440

The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) is part of the solenoid module, which is mounted to the top of the valve
body inside the transmission.
The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) has five switch contact pins that:
² Determine shift lever position
² Supply ground to the Starter Relay in Park and Neutral only.
² Supply +12 V to the backup lamps in Reverse only.
The TRS also has an integrated temperature sensor (thermistor) that communicates transmission temperature to the
TCM and PCM.

Neutral safety switch

1996-98 Cirrus, Stratus, Sebring Convertible and Breeze; 1997-98 Sebring Coupe and Avenger

These vehicles are not equipped with a conventional neutral safety switch or back-up light switch. Instead, the automatic transaxle is equipped with a Transaxle Range Sensor (TRS), which is located on top of the valve body. This sensor performs the functions of the neutral safety and back-up light switches.

The TRS, if defective, must be removed with the transaxle's valve body as an assembly. The TRS is mounted on the top side of the valve body.

Hope ths helps (remember to rate and comment this).

I have a 2006 Dodge Durango. It has no power at take off and will not shift into high gear have two trouble codes which are P0750,P0700(that came from auto zone). Does anyone know what the trouble codes...

P0750-Low Reverse SOLENOID CIRCUIT

This DTC is strictly an electrical fault and cannot be caused by any internal transmission failure other than an open in the Transmission Solenoid/TRS Assembly. If the Transmission Solenoid/TRS Assembly is in need of replacement - do not replace the Valve Body.

To replace the TRS assembly you need to remove the valve body first and then the TRS assembly is mounted on top of the valve body.

Citroen BX 19 TRS REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS, WHICH

Ok, two possibles here. One is that your rear spheres have lost their gas. (Most likely, especially given age of car). Easy enough fix, and the spheres can be got from the likes of allmake for about 30 quid each. Other possibility depends on a couple of factors: if the car doesnt rise at all, after starting or changing the ride height, your main reservoir is probably at fault. If it does rise, but only at the front, then there is a fairly common issue within the levelling system. i cant remember exactly, but there is a ring that needs replacing. Give a citroen dealer a ring...they may even explain it over the phone...
