I have changed my battery, alternator and sent out to electrical shop. No one can figure out problem. Two months ago this problem started. Jeep was dead, jumped it. Now, just this week, truck been dead since tuesday, went out today, truck started right up. When it goes dead, it is dead, no clicking, no nothing.

I have checked that. My Jeep has been dead since tuesday. Went out today to put on charger, and the truck started right up.

Any other suggestions? Something I can tell the mechanic to look for? Tired of this process of elimination. Already have spent small fortune.

Perhaps your problem is not so complicated. maybe one of your vanity mirror lights arent shutting off or something. go out in your car at night and look for light after your dome light shuts off.

I have a 1992 Cadillac devile 4.9 charging issues Help????

Deville 92 old. lots to find bad that old. !
here it is, ID #2 below
you were told wrong, the reg is inside the ALT, actual.
the internet lied again.; 1/2 the time, asking 8year kid same.

the top parts sellers online, shows, no REG outside, so strike 2 on reg outside.

learn to keep that old (how old is it?) battery charged fully until car runs perfectly. or it can take 1/2 to jump start it or worse. dead batteries do not start engines and overload the poor donor cars electrics, doing so.(jumped)

once battery is new, or charged or load tested in a real shop
start the engine, see if GEN/CHARGE lamp goes out.? on dash.
if not alt is bad. wow no fuse then, scary then. lots of car fires.
or use voltmeter idling, at bat terms. 13,to 15vdc good below ALt is dead
140amp alt here.

Why does the electrical system shut down and come back on after 2-43 mins

2008 Grand Caravan 3.8 SXT
car stalled driving, or starter dead 6am,

IF runs is the Charge/battery/gen , cluster lamp off
1: the batter lugs clean and tight, first.
2: fuses good
3: stater motor dead/ (silent, clicks , chatters or?)
HEad lamps are first
they work even no key near the car they work even engine missing.
so when HL fails the battery is dead
no battery ever lasted 15 years, is it?
my wild guess is this is battery #2nd one failure day!
died at 6/7 years now again. ( common as nails)
or alternator is/was dead, and now the battery is dead
or just DISCHARGED

4: so call AAA TOW AND ASK FOR A JUMP
OR BUY YOUR OWN JUMPER CABLES AND JUMP START IT/
OR CALL MOBILE AUTO TECHS. YP.COM

ONCE STARTED WE CHECK THE ALTERNATOR NEXT.
OR IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN FAST.

MOST FOLKS JUST DO #4

Jump start

c85a2fd9-af0e-4d08-89b4-66fb0b469e10.jpgThe motor home battery I couldn't teel you but if you're talking about the vattery for yhe charger, it's located in the Passenger side inside the trunk. There is a cover over it that has to be removed to get access to it. If jumping, there are posts next to the battery I believe designed just forr jumping. I would REALLY suggest just charging the motor home batteries or using a different vehicle to use. Have found on your kind of vehicle that sometimes when getting jumped or visa versa That it causes an electrical problem. there is a fuse link in the wiring directly (sort of) from the battery to the alternator. Have seen this fuse link blown a lot and MANY people change the alternator thinking the alt. is bad beause the battery goes dead not to mention the car letting you know thta there is a charging problem.Hope this helps.....

2004 dodge neon will not turn over

have you replaced the battery? the car draws it's electricity from the battery, then the alternator replaces the charge to the battery. if the battery is shot and will no longer hold a charge the car will not stay running once you remove the charge as in removing the jumper cables

Brand new battery keeps running down. I'll jump it off, and two days later, battery is dead. Today, the A/C went out. Are these problems connected? What's running my battery down? Is It a belt issue?

It's probably your alternator. When your alternator isn't working properly your battery provides all or most of the car's electrical power. Until you can replace the alternator you can disconnect one of your battery cables while the car is not in use and that will prevent the battery running down. One way to check if your alternator is the problem is to disconnect the negative battery cable while the car is running. If the car goes dead, it is very likely an alternator problem. It usually requires about an hour of labor to replace an alternator. Most alternators can be rebuilt at an alternator repair shop and that is cheaper than buying a new or re-manufactured one.

My honda civic wont start at first i thought it was the alternator so i went and picked one up from pick yah part and got it changed and the new alternator is charging my battery but when i try to start...

the problem is either in the batterie or alternator. junkyard alternators are a 50/50 chance of working. you should go to your local parts store and have them do a batterie/ alternator test. they dont require you to take them out the car.

Ford Focus '03 zx3 52,000 miles. dead batt. which was jump started. veh. began jerking and shuddering at fwy speeds, finally gace out NO notice on surface street. AAA tow driver said poss. alternatior...

yes the alternator has failed or the wiring to it, this caused a low voltage condition that caused the engine to stop once it went below about 10 volts.
