It wines only when applying pressure on it, such as accelerating and braking but if I cruise it makes no noise.
Sounds like you have a bad wheel bearing. Jack the truck up so the tire is off the ground. Take a long bad or pipe and try to move the wheel up and down. If you get any play in it then the wheel bearing is bad and needs to be replaced.
Thanks for the help, i did this and it didnt move at all. I mean this sounds like it would be the problem... but i would have felt the play in the wheel if so. not too sure, i might have to pay a mechanic to look at it. most of the time i know what to do on vehicles. rare occasion here.
There is another thing you can try. Try and move the cv joint up and down with ya hand. Also check where the joint goes into your frount hub. I have seen the spline go bad before and not see it with the naked eye but could move it with ya hand. Hope this helps.

sounds like the clip on the rear output shaft its probably broke. do this by removing the rear driveshaft, and the tail of the transfer case, there are 4 bolts holding it in place. then grab the output shaft and see if it has any front to back movement. if so pull it all the way to the rear and you should see a groove at the front part of the shaft where the clip goes. Then you should find the pieces fo the clip in the tail housing. One person said he found the replacement clip at a local tranny shop. I am calling the dealership parts counter for a new clip for my 97 Tahoe tomorrow. Hope this helps..

It does not seem that sufficient diagnosis was done. No, you cant give a specific diagnosis like that without tearing unit down. It's likely that they told you the most common failure and left it at that. Likely there is a problem with your unit...I think this becomes more of a trust issue than a mechanical one. A second opinion from an independent reputable shop may help but either way, you need to have it fixed. In not using it much, it makes me wonder how it got worn.
good luck
SOURCE: car drives and shifts, but theres a clunking noise
check the brake dust shield beind the rotor. That might be a good start. Not sure what you mean by clunking but also check your engine mounts bushing and sway bar bushing. Good luck

Have a mechanic check lower control arm bushing at the rear of the control arm.It is a horizontal bushing retained by a vertical bolt clamping it to frame. The tire will move more forward and back more than it should during braking. canuck mechanic.
