There is a pressure sol. in the transmission that is bad . This is a common problem that requires removal of the side transmission cover. The transmission does not need to be rebuilt! Talk to a gm dealer. I have sold over a hundred of these pressure sol. and the side cover gaskets to a real gm transmission mechanic that have fixed this problem. GM parts over 20 years.

sounds like the torque converter has some broken fins. switching to a full synthetic tranny fluid would build tranny pressure faster. it would be costly, but an improvement if the car is not worth taking out the tranny to replace the converter. was the old fluid red or black? if red then this is the converter, if black then the tranny will need a rebuild or replacing.

If the starter is turning the engine, try re-setting the security system (leave key on till light stops blinking.) If the starter does not turn, you may have some success in re-setting system, if not you need to check battery voltage and voltages in starter system till you find the problem...can be something as simple as a bad connection at the battery.
