Finding where to put transmission fluid can be a bit of a challenge on some cars. In fact there are some transmissions that you can't even add fluid to.But that's not the case on your vehicle. ----------- HOW TO CHECK AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.com/2011/07/how-to-check-automatic-transmission.html ------------ HOW TO CHANGE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.com/2011/07/how-to-change-automatic-transmission.html HOW TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION MOUNT http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-replace-transmission-mount.html How do you change transmission fluid on Pontiac? http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.in/2012/03/how-do-you-change-transmission-fluid-on.html ------------- Filling Transmission fluid on 2001 Volvo c70? http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.in/2012/02/filling-transmission-fluid-on-2001.html ---------------- 2002 Isuzu trooper Transmission fluid fill up? http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.in/2012/02/2002-izusu-trooper-transmission-fluid.html ----------------- AUDI V8 TRANSMISSION FLUID http://whoisbyme.blogspot.in/2012/07/audi-v8-transmission-fluid.html Where to fill Transmission Fluid on 2001 ford focus http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2012/10/where-to-fill-transmission-fluid-on.html -------------- Transmission fluid gets into radiator? http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.com/2011/12/transmission-fluid-gets-into-radiator.html --------------- How to check Transmission fluid on 1996 Chevrolet Camaro? http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.com/2011/12/how-to-check-transmission-fluid-on-1996.html ------------- Transmission fault light on car dash? http://schematicsdiagram.blogspot.com/2011/12/transmission-fault-light-on-car-dash.html ----------------- Filled T-IV fluid instead of WS transmission fluid? http://repairhelpcenter.blogspot.com/2012/01/filled-t-iv-fluid-instead-of-ws.html ---------- How to Add transmission fluid on 2002 Isuzu AXIOM? http://technoanswers.blogspot.in/2012/02/how-to-add-transmission-fluid-on-2002.html ---------------

SOURCE: Chevy Cavalier '98 Transmission has no dipstick - check level ?
take it to a shop and have them top it up so you can be sure you have the fluid you need to keep the car going as it should,,,,thats your safest bet
SOURCE: 99 Chevy Malibu - auto trans - no dipstick
You have what is called a closed cased transmission. You have to crawl underneathe to get to the tranny and remove the upper bolt close to the side of the case (more towards the bottom of the transmission). When you fill it, you fill it till it starts to drip out of that hole.
Looking for a picture for you.

checking the transmission fluid involves lifting the vehicle and removing a plug on the transmission, it is quite difficult and messy if you don't have access to a lift, the vehicle has to be level and at operating temperature in park, there is a small plug on the side of the transmission near the passenger axle shaft. remove the plug slowly, i believe it is an 11mm bolt, if fluid drips out, the level is ok, if no fluid comes out, there is a small plastic screw on cap on top of the transmission itself on the driverside near the oil filter cap, add fluid slowly untill fluid starts to drip out of the plug hole, once the fluid starts to drip, insert the plug and tighten, don't overtighten, just snug it up.!!!make sure you use the right fluid, this is important!!! i believe your fluid is dextron 6, double check in your owners manual, the use of any other fluid will cause damage!!! also, do not remove the small plug on the front of the transmission, that is the pressure plug, all the fluid will shoot out with force if that plug is removed!!!

you may be confusing the torque converter clutch engagement with o.d. this trans has a problem with the T.C.C. regulator valve wearing out the valve body bore. this will cause the converter clutch to engage only sometimes or not at all. this will set a P1870 code in the control module. when this code is stored in the controller, ( check engine light may or may not be on), it increases the pressure in the transmission causing the 1-2 shift to be harsh. ask a local tranny shop to scan the vehicle ( most will do this for free) if this is the problem they can either fix your valve body (sonnax parts) or replace it with an upgraded valve body. hope this helps
