The heater core is behind the dash on the passenger side. You may have to remove the glove compartment to get to the screws, and it goes through the fire wall and connects to your antifreeze lines.
If the heater core is leaking it will blow steam out onto the windshield fogging it up. Check your coolant level in the radiator. Check for wet carpet near the heater blower motor. Is it blowing hot??
it sounds like your haeter core has sprung a leak. you can by-pass it by removing your heater hoses and conecting them together with a splice pipe till you can replace the heater core, but you will need to do so the by pass or heater core replacement soon or your car will start to overheat.
You will have to remove console, and all the venting and cover to heater core. Then go underneath the vehicle and disconnect both coolant hoses. Then remove heater core. You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual for your durango with everything you could need.
