Computer reads. Idle too high. When pushing on IAC input plug or pull on wire loom along injector tube, idle would return to 850. Might stay down for an hour or days then reverts. Recently, pulling or pushing on wires has no effect. Originally Thot was IAC pigtail. No more?? Computer reads "0" telling ISC to close bot IAC not respondinfg. Replaced temp sender and IAC. No effect

The PCM controls idle speed to ensure good driveability. The PCM will only attempt to maintain the desired idle speed when it “knows” the throttle is closed. A throttle switch or the TPS input is used to determine when the throttle is in the idle position. Motors and solenoids are used by most PCM’s to control idle speed. Many PCM’s are programmed to attempt to control the idle speed by adjusting spark timing and then by controlling the idle speed actuator. Some computers of the early 80's did not control idle speed.

Hi
A faulty IAC would cause a random misfire rather than a misfire in a specific cylinder, as would an intake air leak, both of which would cause a high idle amongst other things.
Run the engine until its good and hot, disconnect the injector harness plug so the injectors are disabled, remove all the spark plugs, disable the ignition by unplugging the wiring connector(s) from the coil pack(s), and then carry out another compression test on al the cylinders.
If the compressions are now all relatively the same then you very highly likely have a faulty injector in cylinder 3.
Very best regards

Your problem is most likey your intake gasket. They have a problems on the SOHC engines where the intake gasket shifts & starts leaking vacuum at the #1 intake runner causing a missfire on Cylinder #1.While the engine is Idling buy some throttle plate cleaner & spray throttle cleaner down at the #1 Intake runner where the intake meets the head.If engine stalls or runs rougher that's your problem.I have replaced dozens of those gaskets for tha reason!! They have a beter design gasket through saturn parts. It has a coating on it to prevent reoccurance. Also you should check you Coolant Temp Sensor,if it's ceramic it's most likely bad.Replacement is brass from saturn.Good Luck

check all your vacuum hoses and the throttle body itself for a vacuum leaks if the hoses replace as nessasary if to check for throttle body get can of carb cleaner and spray around base of throttle body and sides not in it if idle raises you have a vacuum leak goto a good parts store and ask for a rebuild kit don't goto auto zone or advance they don't carry them
