Check fuse # 2 in the relay box up front and look for a "park lamp relay control" in the control module.

Is there an easy way to get wiring for a trailer on a 2010 Ford Escape?

Your local auto parts store should have a wiring harness that will clip in to your existing harness. Modern vehicles mostly have a harness coupler under the back of the vehicle you can unplug and plug in the trailer harness without having to cut anything, making the installation very quick and painless. The harness plug may have a plastic lock which you will need to release to separate the two sides of the harness. I recommend putting dielectric grease in both sides of the trailer harness to prevent corrosion from knocking out your trailer lights. The trailer harness kit will have instructions and a diagram to guide you.
Hope this helps and please rate my solution!!

My parking lamp circuit

WELL, what you know is that its a big short...36-40 amps on a parking lamp circuit is the edge of melting wires...so whatever is doing it is probably getting pretty hot, and the rest of the circuit is robbed of power. Unless you have access to a short tester unit (SHeffield Research or PowerProbe are the common ones for automotive) you will probably end up unplugging sections of the circuit and then retesting to see if you still are grounded. There were always issues with add-on trailer lamp wiring, so Id probably crawl under the bumper and see if there is anything resembling trailer wiring and disconnect ANYTHING I see (even if it appears undamaged) and see if that helps. Aside from that, you can attatch a small self resetting circuit breaker (say a 3 or 5 amp) in place of the fuse...it will pop almost immediately and should reset every few seconds...when its doing its on off dance, yoyu will have a pulsing 12v on the parking lamp system...wherever you stab power wires and see it, you are upstream of the short (Closer to the fuse, test farther away from the fuse in search of the short), wire tracing isnt easy without good equipment, but its not impossible with test lights and multimeters, just alot more time consuming.

I am looking for the wire under the rear of my 99 explorer to hook up the wiring harness for trailer or boat. HELP

From the factory there is an unused plug in the left brake light harness. You can get a tow light cable from Ford that's JUST for that, and its a 4 flat plug on the end. I 'found' mine in the compartment on the left where the jack is. Just peek in there with a light. It was still in the package. Otherwise call Ford, the thing plugs in and you route it down and there's a bracket to hold part of it under the bumper to an existing screw location.

Trailer wiring diagram

Either buy an adapter that will go into your existing harness, usually up under, near rear bumper, you pull connector apart & put adapter in line, then you plug new flat4 into it. Otherwise I would pull inside covers of both tailights, use a 12 VDC light tester, and probe wires at right signal for flashing with blinker, and attach Green wire, from flat4 to it. Do same on left side & attach yellow flat 4 to it. Turn off blinkers, and just put your running lights on, Find wire with power on either side when running lights on, and attach brown flat 4 to it. Now find some clean metal in the area and attach white wire (ground) to it. Put inside covers back on & your done.

Trailer wiring for 2005 Ford Escape without factory tow package

I had the sam problem with my '02 escape when I installed the hitch. I changed the turn signal relay under the dashboard on the drivers side of the dash with one from an escape that had a tow package(one was blue and the other was yellow...). worked fine for me after that. Don't know if it changed later...
